Old Republic Home Protection

Rating starRating starRating starRating starRating star

DO NOT USE Have had no Washer or dryer working since June 1st. I’ve had to jump through loop holes and every call is a different story. Been one nightmare after another. I never bash a business but I will be sure to let all my friends and realtor friends know to avoid this company and choose a better option. I’ve never been so frustrated and upset it shouldn’t be this hard! After workers spent 5 hours the machines still don’t work y’all want them to come again after they have told you if just needs to be replaced. It is July 11th. Hours I’ve spent on phone and taking off work is absurd. *****Update it is now July 28 Repair company And old republic stories are conflicting and I really could care less who is telling me the truth. Repair Company came July 6 spent 5 hours trying to repair and old republic keeps saying they can’t move forward without a report and the company tells me they’ve done their part. I just want to be “authorized” to get a new washer and dryer

Lowe’s Protection Plans

Lowe’s has tried to repair our Samsung fridge under warranty 8 times since December, and have since caused more problems. The fridge is unusable now. My wife was on hold for over 3 hours today, talk about customer service. I feel like we are getting the runaround and feel like Lowe’s should replace the fridge if they can’t fix it. I am very disappointed and am exploring what legal action we can take, I see there are class action lawsuits against Lowe’s for similar problems.

Had our A/C go out over the weekend. Initially we were assigned a company that couldn’t make a visit for 3 days. My wife called back and after working with AHS to get our claim changed to an emergency we were able to get another local company assigned and the A/C was fixed the next day. I appreciate AHS working with us and getting the problem resolved.

THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cant stress it enough. DO NOT PURCHASE A HOME WARRANTY FROM THIS COMPANY. Our oven went out in August. It is now the end of the year and I still do not have a replacement. Their supplier is out of the our oven model, yet we can find the exact model (using the model number AHS gave us) everywhere. *******, *****, *********, *****, you name it, they have it. But AHS cant get one??? Fraud. They try to get us to take the cash out option; but it is LESS THAN HALF of the cost of the appliance! And then we would still have to pay to get it installed. This is a fraudulent company and will not do anything about replacing your broken appliances.

Initially reported issue 10/12/2020 at 8;25 p.m.Received assignment email 10/12/2020, and then was informed a service technician was scheduled to service the refrigerator on 10/19/2020. I received a follow up email 10/19/2020 from AHS indicating the problem was not fixable and I would receive a replacement. I completed the AHS Appliance Feature Survey three times and have yet to hear from an AHS representative with instructions on replacement options. I need to replace the refrigerator and it is now going on two weeks since the issue was reported. Please have someone in Appliance Replacement contact me directly at (830) 377 3578. Thank you

On Thursday, July 16th, 2020, we experienced a stoppage in the flow of water throughout our home, and requested service from AHS, who arranged for a plumber to visit and assess the situation the next day. His visit cost us $75. The plumber stated that the filter in the Whirlpool water softener that came with our home had ruptured, releasing a huge amount of tiny acrylic beads, each the size of a grain of sand, into our water lines. These tiny beads blocked water flow to all of our toilet tanks, showers, faucets, and our refrigerator water dispenser. He then stated that he had to contact AHS for authorization to work on the problem. AHS approved nothing. The plumber helped us by engaging a bypass valve and unplugging the water softener, but after that we were on our own. It took me three days to disconnect, uninstall, disassemble, flush, clear, reassemble, reinstall, and reconnect everything I listed above. No doubt a trained plumber could have accomplished it faster, but I’m not a trained plumber, so I had to go through a lot of trial-and-error learning as I took care of it. And despite several phone calls explaining that I didn’t care about repairing the water softener, I just needed help with clearing the stoppages in our water pipes, AHS refused to do a damned thing to help me, even though stoppages are supposed to be covered.

My garbage disposal wasn’t working and AHS sent out a plumber very quickly! I even called AHS because I had question about how the warranty worked and the customer representative was very sweet and explained everything. The plumber who came out was right on time and very professional and helpful.

My Frigidaire Refrigerator was not cooling but the freezer was frosting up. I logged into my American Home Shield Account and placed a repair request. My repair request was immediately assigned to Calvary Appliance Repair. Martin with Calvary Appliance Repair called me and scheduled the appointment to take a look at my refrigerator. Martin called me when he was on the way to my home and text me when he arrived. He quickly found the problem, however needed to order 2 parts. He was able to temporarily cool the refrigerator until the parts came in. Within a week the parts came in and Martin repaired my refrigerator. This was my first experience and I was very satisfied with American Home Shield and Calvary Appliance repair. I highly recommend purchasing a home warranty with American Home Shield.

Service has many rules and restrictions that require you to read the Contract fine print. Many expenses are ruled out by clauses in the contract. If you read the contract and accept the terms then you will get the service you signed up for. My complaint is the timing. A\C went out with days to repair. Water Heater busted and took five days to fix. If, the service was quicker I would rate the company higher. Overall, I get what I agree to pay for.

Happy with everything except when trying to call to speak with someone, it took over an hour for someone to answer my call. I was on hold over an hour. Every time I call, the hold times are horrible. It makes me dread calling. But once on the phone, the customer service people are nice.

We had AHS for several years at our old house before moving to our new home last month. We have continued AHS coverage here too because we trust AHS. We have had a few needed emergency repairs over the years and we are very satisfied with our experience with AHS. We have found the customer service and repair service excellent. We have peace of mind which is priceless thank you AHS.

I bought a Frigidaire fridge from Lowes with an extended warranty. I have been without a fridg now for 3weeks. They can\'t seem to get the right part. It is NOT the repair mans fault. It has something to do with who Lowes orders parts from. I have asked if I could pay and have the part sent directly to me, I was told they would check into it, but they will not even call me back. They are terrible!!

I have been with this company for several years and have filed several claims. The customer services has been excellent. I do wish I could speak to a live person when filing the claim; but, after filing the claim and I call to follow-up, the representatives have been very friendly, competent and helpful. I have had only one less than acceptable experience with a contractor; however, Total Protect, quickly stepped in to resolve the problem.

American home sheild was good to us. There was a couple of times we needed the service repair to back out and fix the problem that wasn\'t originally fixed and AHS made that a bit difficult. And after 5 years of service they decided to drop us as a client.

When renewing my contract, the representative answered all my questions and was able to offer me an acceptable price for me to continue to be a customer. All done over the phone and an easy monthly payment plan.

I have been with AHS for three years now. I have used their services in the past and was always happy, until my last service call. They gave me the name of a local appliance repair company, after 4 days waiting to hear from this company I tried calling them no one answered. I called AHS to request another company and was told they had no other service provider in my area(I live near 2 large cities). I was then told I could hire an out of service provider, as long as the tech called them and gave them certain info about the service call, I would be reimbursed for any charge over the $100 service fee. The tech tried calling to give the info, but was on hold for more than 30 minutes. He had other appointments to go to, so he left(still on hold). He never got to speak to anyone. AHS is refusing my claim even though the tech tried several time to contact them. I would not recommend AHS to anyone, I've been looking into other home warranty companies as I am thinking about cancelling AHS.

Flawless, seamless replacement of my downstairs heat pump. No haggling. Comparable replacement equipment. Professional , concerned, and timely was the company that handled the work. Exactly the process I envisioned I was paying for.

I called the serviceperson who had originally come to fix my bathtub less than tree weeks earlier. It was not draining properly again. He told me that I needed to call in the service request and ask for him. He then told me that he could be out the next morning. It all worked smoothly. / The next day, he arrived with some additional equipment to unstop the tub. Once fixed, he proceeded to tell me what I needed to do as preventive maintenance. He was courteous and neat in appearance.
