I\'m very disappointed in the service and response I\'ve received after my water heater went out. I have had coverage for 3 years and this is the first big replacement I\'ve needed. The contractor they sent was very nice, but told me that they were very backed up and it would be easier and faster for me to go to Lowe\'s to have the water heater replaced. I contacted AHS after a couple days to follow up, as it had already been 5 days without hot water. I was told that they never received report from the plumber, the plumber said they had sent it the same day. I then asked about having a different plumber do the replacement since the first said they couldn't get to it for a least another week. I was told they would send me an email about reimbursement within 24-48 hours. That did not happen. In the meantime I went ahead and had the new plumber replace my water heater since I had already been without hot water for a week at this point and the first plumber was saying it would be another week before they could get to me. When I finally got the email for the reimbursement, the reimbursement won't even cover the cost of a water heater, much less labor. It appears that AHS doesn't care about their customers and would've preferred my children and I go without hot water for another week instead of working with the customer to find a new plumber. Meanwhile I did research and found a plumber that was cheaper than the contractor they sent and I'm still having to pay more than if I would've waited another week. How does that make sense?

The pool pump was not working on Sunday and Expert Pools technician came out on Tuesday and replaced it. I’ve had a warranty with American Home Shield since I bought the house 10 years ago and they have always responded promptly.

For the most part my experience with AHS has been ok. That is until I received a price increase over $20 per month. I looked to see what a plan would be if I was new and it would be $20 cheaper that what they were charging. So, I asked to get the same pricing and they stated I could as I was coming up. to a renew but he had to transfer me to another department to do that. When I got transferred I was told I couldn't get the lower price and I was told wrong. So, I then said I would like to cancel the warranty. He said ok and it would be canceled in the next 48 to 72 hours and I would receive a refund of the prorated amount. The only thing I really used it for was my AC and I have replace all 3 this year and they have their own warranty. Fast forward to today, I get a call about why I am canceling and I told them. They tried to change my plan to lesser coverage for more money but less then what the increase would have been. So, still more. money for less coverage than a new customer would get. I said I don't want it and still want to cancel. She then proceeds to tell me I will be charged a $20 cancelation fee which the day before I wasn't told of. Keep in mind that is after I spent 20 minute on the phone getting jacked around yesterday and then having to go through it again today. Their customer service is absolutely terrible. Find another warranty company. I will add this to Google.

I have been with AHS for years and have had a few minor claims with ice makers. 3 days ago my AC went out so we made a claim. I was diligent in going through my profile on AHS to make sure all my contact information was current and my wife’s phone number was deleted from the account as she does not answer numbers she does not know. After looking at my profile no changes were necessary as all my contact information was there and none of my wife’s. About an hour after my claim was submitted my wife informed me that she had a voicemail from A-US AC. I called them back within seconds and was placed in the cue on hold from 4:40 until it dropped me in the voice mail system at 5:00pm. I left a voice mail explaining we had no AC and it was dangerously hot, could someone please call me ASAP. After no return call the following day I called again at 10am and again was placed on hold until again it went to voice mail. This time I went on line and booked an appointment, unfortunately by now the next available appointment was 3 days out. I call AHS and asked if my profile had only my contact information why and how is the vendor calling my wife? Her response was “when you sighed up that’s what you gave us”. I signed up years ago and had updated my profile to reflect the new information but AHS doesn’t pay attention to that they just use the old information you gave them the year you sighed up in essence when you update your profile its busy work you are doing just for your benefit and no one looks at it. This caused at least 1 day of delay! At 4:25pm I received a call from A-US AC and the gentleman said “I’m returning a call from Joe Mauro”. He was not concerned at the least about the amount of time it took to contact me nor did he care about our family suffering in 100 degree heat while it took 2 days to call us back. This last question before he hung up on me was “did you end up getting an appointment?” I replied “yes… but” by that time he uttered “ok” and hung up. This morning the tech came and diagnosed my AC issue and said it was a leaking coil that was letting the Freon escape. He now has to submit the work to AHS for approval and most likely the very expensive AHS will only pay a fraction! The tech said they use to pay for Freon but recently stopped. I have now realized what a worthless policy AHS has provided me with. I could have saved all the monthly payments over the years and had a tech out within hours and the unit fixed immediately. When this process has come to an end I will spend a great deal of time either praising AHS for doing the right thing or sharing my nightmare that my family of 4 has no AC with temperatures reaching over 100 and I could have no AC for a total of 7 days! UPDATE!! I just received a call from AHS and the coil for my AC is leaking. The ONLY thing they are covering is the coil, labor, the coil removal and $10 a bottle of the Freon. So years of paying AHS protection from such disasters such as this will cost ME $2,200!!!! They have figured out how to pay for nothing of relevance while promoting this feel good, be covered crappy insurance policy. Put your money in a jar use it and pay cash when something breaks and you will get it done faster and at a great discount. They have ripped me off and caused my family 5 days of misery with rude vendors and worthless protection. I have not read 1 positive review yet on AHS that should tell you everything you need to know! I am not going quietly I will reach out to all the local news channels that have a RIP OFF segment as well as social media, they need to be kicked out of Texas!

I highly recommend NOT to take AHS warranty, they will always try to find fault on your end and you will end up paying more than what you might pay for a replacement or repair. I had two issues on my air conditioning and for the first issue the contractor they sent was quoting more than a new unit cost for repair. Also, once I filed a complaint with BBB AHS came back saying they can pay cash compensation which was also the lowest compensation. I ended up spending close to $2000 from my pocket to get it fixed. For the second issue their contractor replaced the part, which failed within few months, and now they don't want to cover the repair/replacement of it. They even sent a letter saying they cannot extend the AHS warranty contract. Basically they will be happy to take money from you, but not to resolve/pay for any service/repair/replacement.

Although I was skeptical about home warranty companies with some of the horror stories I have heard through the years, American Home Shield came recommended by two of my co-workers. I am so thankful I joined last fall. I, unfortunately, have had a couple of claims this year already. AHS\' response time is almost immediate after I complete my online claim. Within a couple of hours, if not less, I hear from one of their approved vendors, and then the service is scheduled and the matter resolved. I am extremely impressed with the timeliness of their process (which may be automated) as well as the friendliness of their staff when I have had to speak to someone directly. I highly recommend AHS!!!

I am very impressed with the responsiveness of AHS. I usually receive a text within minutes of submitting an online claim advising of a local contractor that will be reaching out to schedule an appointment. They have also done a fantastic job sourcing contractors who are also very responsive in scheduling a visit and resolving issues.

Home Shield has been by far the worst experience. We had a plumbing leak and called on a Thursday. They couldn\'t get anyone out until Tuesday, and they sent the worst contractor in the area. Just a quick glance at reviews of the company are scary, whether it was on Yelp, Google, or BBB. It\'s crazy to think they would send someone like that. I ever asked them about it and they said they don't base contractors on reputation...I mean who says that. Anyhow, they didn't dig a single hole and said the leak was on the outside since the yard was wet. No problem, I understand. I called another plumber since i was going to have to pay for it out of pocket and they dug a hole and found the leak 1 ft inside the slab. Now, the water is leaking 40 gallons an hour, so I called the home shield back up, and they couldn't get anyone back out for days. That is just ridiculous! So I had to have the plumber I called fix it, because it was leaking 40 gallons an hour. The work only came to $450 and so I submitted it to home shield to be reimbursed and it was denied since I didn't have their approval. This is a joke considering, again, it was leaking 40 gallons an hour and I can't wait days. On top of that, the $450 cost was over half of what their contracts quoted to repair. So on top of my plumber being half the cost, they still won't cover the cost. I am definitely cancelling my order. Also, my co-workers have also had issues with them. I should of listened.

Have been without refrigerator for two weeks. Sat on phone with replacement division at AHS fro 2and 1/2 hours. Could not get anyone to answer the phone. Called the next day when they opened and only had to wait for a 1/2 hour. Was told e-mail would be sent to pick a replacement. Still have not seen the e-mail. Very poor service!!!!!!!!!!
