After 13 years of loyal subscription to AHS, we decided not to renew a new contract....after reviewing the new contract to start 07/01/19...with only about 6 weeks left (expiring 06/30/19) we called to explain we would not renew.....the AHS rep (Holly) asked if we wanted to cancel....we decided that would be fine. At no time, while inviting us to cancel instead of not renewing, the AHS rep did nothing to advise of cancellation fees. When we called today for an explanation of their email and why their recommended cancellation was costing us a penalty, they immediately knew what line and section to refer us to on the spot (Rick)...sounding clearly like they are taking advantage of our lack of having read word for word a 7 page contract. When a trusted vendor, making a recommendation that will cost their customers an unexpected charge, to advise them of the consequences. At least, post the cancellation fee in the area where it mentions on the front page of the contract ..."you may cancel by calling...". We really walked into it, by trusting AHS

They only use scammers as contractors that try to rip off customers. Worst investment ever.

To get AHS to agree to replace my furnace, I paid for 2 additional inspections, which found the same problem which was different from the AHS inspection results. The replacement contractor added $1,000 to replace external parts which were not defective. The replacement was timely and well done. The added costs were more than expected.

Worst customer service of any company Ive ever had to deal with. Ive had this company for 7 years. The time that I need them when my Washing Machine Breaks, BOOM no help. Customer service tells you that your file is with purchasing, purchasing tells you that your order is with parts and your not allowed to talk with parts. Especially watch out for Ricky in purchasing. Very rude and condescending to the customers. I do not think that any of their people are actually trained on how to interact with someone that is having issues. Even Customer Service supervisor (Aaron) was not helpful.

Since I signed up with American Home Shield, I have felt a breath of fresh air pertaining to issues in my home. Now when a toilet, or appliance is not working I simply request a service through their website and no more than 24 hours a company is calling me to handle my issue. American Home Shield is a good company to sign up with. The service company they have signed with are respectful technicians and quality customer service.

I was assigned a plumber quickly, which was good. Because I had never heard of this plumber before I researched them and found many negative reviews on all of the typical review sites. I contacted AHS and requested a different plumber and my request was denied. As a result of that denial I cancelled the repair request. Customers should have the ability to voice concerns and be allowed to request a different vendor for their service. Not be told you will have to allow this vendor to complete the service call and then have the option to denied service from them again. I ended up calling a different plumber to complete the work. I. Ave never had any issues with the vendors you use but this really bothered me.

I have been with AHS for several years. Only one bad experience with a garage door repair. The service person came out and determined the opener needed to be replaced. He said he had to order the opener and it would take a couple of days. He never returned and would not answer calls. After a second person came out AHS initially charged me for two calls but it was later corrected.

Disposal leaked. Flange was replaced. Took a week for service, however I made the call just before Christmas and we had a hard freeze that week so the time was expected. Service company kept me informed on date and even sent a text with a photo just before arrival. Service guy was exactly on time. Problem fixed.

I have had some minor ac and plumbing issues that they took care of in a reasonable time. I scheduled a plumbing appointment due to water running down out of the attic. Turned out it was the a.c.pan over-flowing. They set an appointment to have someone come out about ten days later. (Occurred about a week after Harvey.) Had to call in and request an earlier date. Was told I still owed 75.00 on a call out a couple of months earlier. I tried to dispute it but they would not send anyone until I paid it. I called an independent ac contractor who partially unclogged the line but stated my overflow pan was not installed corrrectly under the coils and needed to be fixed. Also said the pan needed to be sloped toward the drain hole, not laying flat. Said I really should get a plumber to finish unclogging the line and have the warranty company come out and correct the installation of the pan so that it sat entirely under the coils and to have the slope fixed on the pan. He told me the correct way to do it was to raise the unit and move it over about two inches so the pan could be positioned properly. I called American Home Warranty and had them send out an a.c. company to correct the problem. They sent ACS Absolute Comfort LLC out of Houston. The tech agreed that there was an installation problem but I would have to cut and reroute two water pipes that were installed "before" the a.c. was installed. I told him my warranty covered improper installation and if the pipes had to be moved, it should be on the warranty company. He made a report to his office manager and I did not get an answer after a couple of days. When I called ACS I was told by the office manager that American Home Warranty was not going to do anything unless I moved the water lines on my own. She quoted a clause that the unit had to be accessible. I told her it was accessible by going up the ladder in the hall, just like it was when they installed the a.c. She became rude and said that was my only option. She stated her technician had put in his report that the unit was improperly installed and two pipes were next to the pan that kept it from fitting under the unit completely. When I called American Home Warranty, I was told there was nothing in my file saying that I had been denied. Apparently, Patricia, the office mgr. for ACS had made the determination on her own. I appealed it and was told I would still have to move the pipes at my expense, even though they admitted my policy covers improperly installed items. Still appealing it and still have a 12"x40" hole in my ceiling where the water leaked down the wall onto my bookcase. I highly recommend that anyone who has American Home Shield should get out before you have something major go wrong. Just do a Google and Face Book search and see what everyone is saying about them. I plan to take my case as far as I can and that includes filing suit for breach of contract.

When you call AHS, the tape recorded message answering states that the appointment for service is a mutually agreed upon time, between homeowner and service company. My experience was the opposite. I was told when I HAD to be at my property, based upon the convenience of the service company, when it was not a convenient time for me personally. I made arrangements to be at the house, and then the service company doesn't even show up during the window time of arrival. Stay away.

Requested service on 12/17 for a broken shower faucet handle. Tried all day 12/19 to speak to an agent and could not get through despite waiting, at one point, over 45mins on the phone. Assigned vendors were rude and determined to be unhelpful. Attempted several times to chat with an AHS agent and they are also were extremely unhelpful. Service repair man came out on 12/20 and I called 12/21 regarding the next steps for resolving the broken faucet and was told that the contractor had not called in about my service request. No one seems willing to provide information on whether or not this claim is covered and I am stuck in the mean time with a broken faucet that has not been repaired.

They have been called out 5 diggerent times on my AC unit, but get this for the SAME problem!!!! They just pit a Band-Aid on the problem jist for it to happen... 4more times again. They dont want to fix it right, my hoise couldve caught fire bc if their shotty work. I will NOT be renewing my concract next year!

We needed a contractor for a plumbing concern and a plumber was sent to the house. However, after the job was completed we noticed three weeks later there was still a leak. Therefore I called AHS to find out next steps and they ensured the contractor will come back out. The contractor sent another plumber to do the job right...and we have not had another problem since. AHS made sure I was taken care of!

My American Shield policy was about to expire when I received a call from a representative to renew my policy. Initially I was reluctant to renew as I'm a bit cynical toward any type of warranties and the need for them. After getting a thorough explanation from the Rep of what my policy would cover and the reasonable cost this policy would be, I decided to renew my policy. Boy am I glad I did as my refrigerator went out on me literally two days later. American Shield promptly arranged to have a local refrigerator repair company come check out my frig and the problem. Had they not had to order a part, I'm certain that my issue would have been resolved on the spot. My refrigerator was fixed within a week and the technician took great care to be respectful of my home and made certain the refrigerator area was clean and had no residual effects from the repair. Definite five stars from me with my experience!
