With AHS warranty there are no surprises whom call to immediately fix it when appliances breaks down. Well customer service is good but the wait time on the call is long sometimes.

I am going to have a new air conditioning unit installed by a "reputable" company and forego any more attempts to deal with AHS. Below, is the review I just emailed to https://www.homewarrantyreviews.com/claims/insurance-claims/. I have been a faithful client of American Home Shield (AHS) for several years and my agreement costs me $743.88 annually. I have two separate AC units in my home. In 2019, AC on upper levels stopped working and tech came out and performed what I now know was a "band aid" fix. Here it is approximately one year later and again the AC is not working. This is the same unit that was "band aided." AHS sent tech #1 and he looked in my attic and said there was something on the fan that he removed and just give it a few hours and it would begin to get cool. He left and it never cooled! Second tech from United Home Temp came out, FINALLY, after numerous calls and said there was a leak in the coil and they would have to do a "bench" repair and someone would come back to pick up the part and take it to their premises so that they could replace the coils. I said no way! I called AHS and spent an inordinate amount of time with customer service and then their "escalation" specialist and then finally a customer service manager. I was told by this manager that they would have to send someone else for a second opinion and I would have to pay for another service call. I said that would be a third technician's opinion as the first one did not properly diagnose the issue I asked for the name of her immediate boss as I would be initiating a letter. I was then told, that I would not be able to get that information because her boss's name was confidential. Please..., a manager's name is confidential? In each conversation, I was constantly "reminded" that they were following guidelines. I let them know that I was not going to accept another band aid fix and I would be calling the media. Having read numerous negative reviews, I plan to sue. I have already contacted another company for a new AC. I am contacting the BBB and any and all social media outlets. What a rip-off AHS is!

Overall, this service worth for trying, but the coverage maynot be as good as you plan. I had 3 service request so far and the first two were fixed/repaired/replaced without problem; however, the technicians sometimes understand your issues but maynot see the problem in your direction unless you push a bit to let them really seeing things in your way. I think it is because the way how AHS do the service contract with them make the contractors inspect things either must be in a too strict way, or to reject as mich as possible...... Thr third service I applied.....was not a happy service, not the problem of the technician, but AHS refuse to cover for thr replace expense of my thermal control valve of the water heater due to the part was out of date and out of stock in the market. The only way to do it is to have modification and place on a new water tank. AHS did not even want to cover for partial. I ended up pay about $520 out of pocket. I was happy that my issue was finally fixed.. But not happy that ASH did not even help for partial. Though ASH did inform me about it, but if thr part is no longer available in the market, I suppose they should help for thr alternate way of fixing and maybe at least help with 50~70% of the total expense. Their customer service can be hard to reach sometimes when you are really in need for help. Thay is why I only give 3 stars on this company and may not use them again in next year.

I am very frustrated with AHS customer service. My initial call to them was handled wonderfully. I had a plumbing leak. They got someone out here right away. But......trying to get someone out to repair the drywall from the plumbing fix is another story. I have been told my # was given to a contractor who AHS was told couldn\'t contact me - claimed I didn't answer my phone. My phone is ALWAYS with me. This went on for 2 weeks. Now another contractor has my #. They are SUPPOSED to call on Monday. I want this hole repaired bc then I have to have the ceiling repainted. I understand this is a small job but I am very frustrated with the lack of customer service.

2nd time, not a happy service dealing with AHS. Complained for a water heater issue on Tuesday, AHS found a contractor to come on Saturday. I said its too late and they found another contractor who could come on Friday. I waited for them to show up, initially got a call that they are delayed, after 2 hours got another call that they couldn't come that day and asked to check with AHS. Kept on calling AHS on friday till 9:30PM and AHS tried to reach few of their "in network" contractors, but no one available to visit my problem. Finally AHS gave up and authorized me to go with an outsider of my choice. I called someone thru a google search, and they came and diagnosed the problem with water heater. They need to replace Gas Control Valve, which he said he could get it from store and fix the problem on Monday. On Monday morning, he submitted his diagnosis report and pricing to AHS. AHS thought the price is too high and want to go for a 2nd opinion, which I totally agree. But they couldn't find someone right away and sending someone on Wednesday to come and check my water heater. By Wednesday, it will be full 8 days with no Hot water and who knows how long they will take to fix the actual issue? I will update as and when I get an update on this issue. I was given very good review of AHS by a friend and now I am feeling sorry to work with them. I had 2 claims so far and one took 5 weeks and another running now for 1+ week, still going on...... PS: I had another issue on same water heater back in November last year and at that time, it took a total of 5 weeks to fix the same water heater. At that time, my water heater stops working temporarily and if I adjust the power cable, it used to work. So, it wasn't that bad, even though they took 5 weeks which was not acceptable at all.

So easy to schedule an appointment. I wish there were more options to tell AHS about my plumbing problem, but since I was provided with the contractor's phone number, I was able to call him and really tell him the thorough story of my plumbing problem. The plumber showed up exactly on time and had the situation fixed in no time!

I've been a customer of AHS for the past 7 years. Initially the company provided good service with competent contractors/vendors who was able to diagnose then repair the problem promptly and efficiently. December 2014 I filed a claim as my over-the-range microwave stopped heating. Almost 4 months later the problem still has not been resolved. AHS refuses to replace the microwave despite recommendation from the contractors to do so. The contractors tell me it can't be fixed and that they will contact AHS. AHS tells me no one has contacted them and continues to send the same contractor to try again. Four different occasions I have taken off work to meet the service tech, the amount of money I've lost I could have purchased 2 microwaves. Multiple phone calls and emails has not resolved the problem. March 25, 2015 received another response from AHS that the they are sending the same Contractor to "repair" my microwave. Picked the phone up to call AHS to ask why they would send someone a 5th time for the same problem, but decided instead to contract with another Home Warranty Company. So very dissatisfied with AHS, would not recommend anyone to use this service. One star rating is generous. Rosalyn Wright

My last experience with AHS was perfect. After my initial call to customer service to explain the situation, they immediately reached out to one of their vendors to have them contact me to about an appointment. They explained what the next steps would be and answered all my questions, while being very courteous. I received a call from the vendor about 2 hours later to book the appointment. They also answered questions I had and tried to be as flexible as possible with the appointment times. Unfortunately, the weather didn't allow the first appointment scheduled to happen, but the vendor called that morning to let me know, and re-scheduled right then. The day of the re-scheduled appointment, I received a call about 30 minutes before the service tech was to arrive to let me know he would be there then, and he got there right at the time my appointment was scheduled for. He assessed the issue with my dryer, and was able to fix it within 20 minutes. He even explained what the issue was and how it could be fixed in the future if it happened again since it didn't require a new part or repair. Service tech was clean and courteous.
