American Home Shield (AHS)
We had a washer that was leaking and needing repair. At the time we believed that the washer was leaking and had caused considerable damage to our family room ceiling below. We asked AHS to come and survey and repair the washer. We learned that it wasn\'t the washer despite a small leak in the pump. The pump and motor were both replaced and there hasn't been any more leaking occur. The Appliance Master who repaired the washer was friendly, very professional and was quick to diagnose the issue. He ordered the parts and within just 5 days the washer was up and running. We are totally satisfied with the repairs and the Technician's performance.

We needed two repairs, one by a plumber and one by an electrician. Both service man arrived on time and were very professional. The work was done and done well and they were very knowledgeable and experienced and I would highly recommend American home Shield to anyone looking for a home warranty. They always deliver their product and we have never been disappointed.

I have paid my premiums for years and rarely need to use my warranty, however I did so recently and did not agree that my appliance could be repaired. I was hoping to discuss this, however after hours on the phone (on hold) I was unable to speak to anyone who could help me. I was told a supervisor would call me but no one has. The person I spoke to in Memphis in the approvals department said she did not know the number for the corporate office and it didn't matter anyway because a supervisor would not give me a different answer. She then told me no supervisor was on duty at 11:30 am. They were happy to take my money for years but good luck if you have a problem! They don't care! Absolutely terrible customer service! I thought they were a reputable company but was sorely disappointed.

I have not experienced any of the complaints I see. AHS has contacted the service provider and the provider has contacted me within 24 hours after I initiated a claim on the AHS web site. If someone chooses to stay in the 20th century and do business by telephone they shouldn't expect timely service. I'm sure there are substandard service providers in the AHS stable but I haven't encountered any in the 11 years I've had a warranty. The other problem may be due to people not closely reading the contract. AHS pays based on cost to replace builder quality products that is many times a fraction of the cost for the products available from a service provider. When I had to replace our AC I opted for an energy efficient replacement that was 3 times the cost for a unit comparable to what the builder had installed. My cooling costs have been cut in half saving me about $750/yr. That will essentially pay in 1 more yr for my out of pocket cost for the AC unit. My furnace/AC blower was replaced in Sept. for the $75 service fee.
