| Home warranty is a complex insurance product. Unlike home insurance, it does not provide blanket coverage for all appliances. Pre-existing conditions and problems resulting from lack of maintenance of appliance are are generally not covered by home warranty companies. Home warranty sellers may not state these factors clearly, and this will create dissatisfaction among customers. Due to these factors, you will see many negative reviews here. Don't be intimidated by some negative reviews here. If you have maintained your appliances in good condition and go with a reputed home warranty provider, your coverage will be fine. |
We do not endorse any company in particular, however you should ignore the reviews that are overly negative or positive. Such reviews are not likely to offer a balanced view and some of them could be fake reviews posted to promote or demote a company. It is always a good idea to check BBB ratings and make sure the company is licensed to do business in your State by contacting State Insurance Commission. Try to avoid paying annual premium and keep your cancellation rights

Allied Home Warranty is a scam. They will not honor the agreement that you paid for. Do yourself and your buyers a favor…DO NOT PURCHASE THE WARRANTY FROM ALLIED!
My dishwasher stopped working and I called for a repair. The repairman concluded that I needed a new control panel which is cost prohibitive and recommended buying a new unit. Allied offered me $248 for a new dishwasher. A comparable unit to the one I have would be closer to $1,000. They refused to budge off of their number and rudely informed me that it is their policy not to replace based on comparability. DO NOT CHOOSE THIS COMPANY FOR YOUR HOME WARRANTY.
Allied referred a plumbing company AAA Full Service Plumbing. After they fixed my toilet, I noticed items missing from my bathroom closet.
Do not let Allied refer you to AAA Full Service Plumbing.
Had their service for one year the vendors which they used were rude! and unprofessional. I contacted Allied after each issue no one choose to contact me for 3 months then offered to reimburse the service fee, it has been another month and still no check. I have canceled my service with them.
100% disreputable company. Tried to use them 3 times and gave up. Waste of money. The whole program is designed to take clients money and do everything they can to not repair a problem. The discounts they give for using their affilitates are inflated prices that are above any and all other companies you can call yourself. If your buying a home ask the sellers to replace an appliance that is about $500, instead of wasting the buyers money on a warranty you not going to be able to use anyway.
I have had this warranty since January 2011 and have had 3 service issues for 3 different repairs, washing machine, air conditioner and now water ehater. The service contractors are never able to get to your house timely, When the AC was out this summer it took them 5 days to get there and then did not have the part on truck and had to order it. This was same issue with washing machine, this took 4 or 5 trips from service company. Now I have been having an issue with the hot water heater. AFter 3 trips to my house, the hot wtaer ehater pilot light is not styaing lit. Called Allied again this morning and they sadi they would call me back. It is very frustrating when you work full time to leave work, wait on the repairmen time after time for the same problem that does not get resolved. I will not renew my contract with Allied but will search out another provider for this contract due to poor performance.
Please do NOT waste your money on this company. They do not cover anything and you can get the repairs cheaper by not using their service provider (Lone Star Air Conditioning)and paying the normal price with your own provider. Their pest control was a joke and they have come to my house 3 times for my 4 year old air conditioning unit and want to fix a part that is covered under warranty and charge $1,075 for labor. The air conditioning company that I have used for years will charge $650 since the part is still under warranty. BEWARE, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!
Having to file a small claim against Allied for breech of contract.
Allied had a third party rekey my locks. I have a very standard storm door with a very conventional lock on it. The repairman said he was afraid to try to rekey this lock. He said that he had tried a simular one that fell apart on him. He did rekey the other locks satisfactorily. Allied would not have anyone else come to rekey this lock. They have offered me no recourse. They say this is not a “standard residential lock” although the contract does not say they won’t rekey a storm door lock. I am very displeased with their attitude and failure to live up to their contract terms.
** BUYER BEWARE ** We purchased our home warranty ($350) 9 months ago and have since found that the warranty has been almost completly useless. We are VERY DISSATISFIED with having chosed Aliied and we do not recomend them to anyone. Here’s our history with Allied over last 9 months: (1) Oven heating element & controller failed – not covered, (2) A/C fan motor starter capacitor failed – Allied replaced it for a $60 deductible (about the same cost as without insurance) but had to wait 3 days for the repair (in the heat) after paying the $60 in advance because they changed the schedule, (3) Window leaks – not covered (because windows are structural ???), (4) Bad electrical outlet, plumbing vent line plugged, and bathroom exhaust fan not working – Alled offered to send out servicemen for $180 to “quote” the cost of repair (they would not commit to covering any of these under the policy). NO THANKS – I CAN SEE WHERE THIS IS HEADED! Overall, we have found Allied to be evasive and unwilling to discuss our questions about thier intrepretation of the policy. Upon challenging this attitude, we were quickly reminded that “Allied is the sole intrepreter of their policies.”
Had a legitimate claim for a pre-existing condition on the home- their reasoning for not fixing the the concern was that it was a pre-existing condition.
Not quite sure what their warrantee covers- and neither is their customer service team. What we are sure of- we will not renew and warn all others.
Ok, I have been patient for a long time, but 7 service calls for the same thing within 2 months is simply awful. EXCUSES EXCUSES, just honor my contract and fix it already (still not fixed) These guys give you the run around and don’t want to fix an A/C leak because it will cost them too much. (WTF is the premium for AHs?) I had several different techs come out to “diagnose” find the leak & then recharge w freon as a band aid solution. The last time the wouldn’t put it in bc it was against code? I was like umm hello I guess the last 6 times they recharged it, that was ok. I RECOMMEND TO SHOP AROUND!!!!!!! AND HWA FU, AINT RENEWING SHHH. IM TELLING EVERYONE I KNOW NOT ONLY NOT TO GO WITH YOU BUT ADVERTISING ANOTHER HW AND SPREADING IT EVERYWHERE, I HOPE UR BUSINESS GOES UNDER.
It’s not worth it to fool with dishonest corrupt cheap company like HWA. That’s just not business smart at all.
FYI. I personally am a loyal customer when service is reasonable and consistant. Ex. I had Progressive insurance for 15 years without an accident. They tried to raise my premium unreasonably bc of the overall state accidents and guess what, Ive been with GEICO now for the last 10 years.
2 cars $2220 a year (Progressive wanted $2460) So lets see that $22,200 that they “WOULD HAVE” made. oh and still no accidents (my drive is 4 miles a day total) ya hear that HWA losing out on money not just from me but from anyone else reading and anyone I tell, just cause you were cheap, sad sad.
Oh and just to send it home, I’ve arleady seen better quotes online with better reviews. HWA sucks. Keep looking.
P.S. LAWSUIT in the works… heads will roll, some ppl will be losing the jobs i promise.
GOOD LUCK
Liars. I ended up spending more money on a hot water heater as LONE STAR put in a zrap water heater as a replacement. I made them call another plumber When my dishwasher broke they said there wasn’t a part and I had to pay for a new one. We called the mfg parts number, ordered the part, chewed out LONE STAR and made them fix the dishwasher. WATCH IT.
Allied Home Warranty is a scam but the tech that came out was great & the owner of the company was very nice. I would not recommend Allied Home Warranty – they do not pay – we were out of pocket $775. The total job was $1100
I bought a house in Texas and this Allied home waranty was paid for the seller. I found if I use Allied and their reccomended company or just anyone else I choose it cost me the same. Hence…what good is this warranty. The kicker is now the one time I used their people my for my HVAC (with out going into detail) I’m having problems and their repair company that did the work made it worse and it will probably cost even more in the long run. It seems they don’t cover anything and deny everything. I wouldn’t reccomend them for anything unless you feel like waisting time and money.
Is it true that Lone Star Repair is owned by Allied ? Now I can understand why Allied did not answer my question. My A/C is 5 years old, it took longer time to cool down the temperature then before, so I called Allied to check. They sent out Lone Star Repair then I has been told that I need to pay $1,050 for some non-cover-parts after Allied covered the main parts and labor. After I had an another A/C company quote me for total $1,200 (including for all parts, labor, one year labor warrant and 5 years part warrant), I asked Allied for explanation, they said I have to use their contractor (Lone Star) or they can not do anything…I tried to talk to their supervisor Judy W, she was always busy, I left message for her, no respond so far… I have no A/C for my main bedroom about 2 weeks, still waiting for them call me back…
I know that most reviews are from folks that had a negative experience, so I felt obligated to say something positive for a change. The reality is, since positive experiences are EXPECTED from companies, most people don’t feel the need to write about something that positive because it should go without saying. I have had TWO good experiences with Allied Home Warranty over the past 7 days and I thought I would share it…
I purchased my home warranty after I had a major repair with my A/C unit. I am GLAD I did!! Within 3 weeks of getting my warranty with Allied, my second A/C unit (less than 6 yrs old) went out. I placed my service request using the iPhone app and received an email immediately saying that they have received my request and someone will let me know something within 4 business hours. (It was a Sunday, so I didn’t expect a call until Monday). When I did get a call, the company that they first assigned to me could not get to my house until Thursday, but it was 110 degrees and I thought that was unacceptable. I called to see if there was anybody else they could send and they immediately rescheduled me with a company that could come sooner. The man from Midland A/C showed up when he said he would and replaced the motor in my outside A/C unit. He was in and out in 45 minutes. I only had to pay the $60.
As I type this, there are two plumbers from First Choice Plumbing working on a leaking toilet and a leaking drain in my wall. I sent the request last night and they are working now. At first there had to be some negotiating with the plumber and Allied but in the end, I am only paying $60 for around $600 in work.
Between the A/C and the plumbing, my warranty has already paid for itself! So far so good. I am going to post this wherever I can…
I just bought a house in San Antonio and my real estate agent recommended Allied. I had read the reviews and was not too impressed, but I took my real estates agent’s recommendation and got their service. I am glad I had. Within two weeks of owning the house the A/C went out and the master bedroom shower started leaking (which is on the second floor of course). I called Allied and they sent repair men out the same day to look at it. At first the home warranty would not cover the repairs without reviewing my Home Inspection and so I sent them the digits on the inspection. After they had reviewed it and agreed that the repairs that needed to be done were not pre-exisiting they sent the repairmen out to fix make the repairs. Of course this didn’t happen all on the same day and it took a couple of days to fix, but I expected that. The people they sent out were very professional. Murphy’s Law being what it is the master bedroom shower started leaking again. I called the Allied and they sent the same guys out for a recall. This time I did not have to pay $60 fee since it was a recall on the same thing. They had to replace a few parts and it seems to be working fine now. Lessons learned on this for me were : 1) have a house inspection report that you can use to show that the repairs that need to be done are not pre-existing 2) read the warranty that they give you; not all repairs are covered with a home warranty. I believe they saved me between $600-$800 because of the warranty repairs.

This is the worst company possible to use for a home warranty. They were going to cover only part of my hvac system replacement when it went out. (eventhough their brochere clearly says covers replacement costs) I had to wait over a week to get the appointment to go through, and then the day before the appointment, the hvac company called to confirm and told me allied would not cover anything. Allied didn’t even have the courage to alert me of their decision and they still haven’t told me why they dropped the coverage. Stay away from Allied!!!
My a/c went out. I called them on Wednesday & was told they couldn’t send anyone out until Friday between 1 and 6 p.m. (a 5 hour window – ridiculous). The tech shows up and tells me my entire unit needs replaced, which I agree with because it’s 16 years old and the evaporator coil has been leaking. Then I’m told that my out-of-pocket cost for a 3 1/2 ton, SEER 13 builder’s grade is $3,000!!! I thought I didn’t have to pay anything because there is nothing in the contract about having to pay for anything other than the $60 service call fee. The co. told me they would have an installer come the next day (Sat.) sometime between 1 and 6. At 1:20 on Sat. I got a call from the repair co. stating that the installer was stuck at another job and wouldn’t be able to come until Monday!!! So here I am without a/c in the bedrooms and it is really hot here in Houston.
Last month I called them out regarding my faucet leaking. It was determined that the cartridges had gone out; however, since the faucet was very expensive they didn’t have access to a supplier that had it in stock. I ended up calling the manufacturer and they sent me the cartridges for free. I called Allied to let them know the parts were at my house and they sent the plumber out in a few days. Well, the plumber had a new guy with him and the new guy overtightened the faucet handles and broke the handle off inside the bell. I ended up having to get the whole handle assembly from the manufacturer because Allied couldn’t get it locally and it was going to be a long wait.
Needless to say, I am not impressed with them.
you really dont wanna have anything to do with these guys. Horrible service. you will be better off not having a home warranty rather than pitch with these guys
Allied Home Warranty is a scam that will swindle folk’s of their money. I have used them twice when something at my house broke down. You’ll pay their $70 service call just to let you know that the item you are trying to be repaired is not covered. Allied Home Warranty should be shut down for false practices.
I was having issues again with one of my units and asked for the last contractor to come back out they seemed very knowledgeable. They send a company under the Name Lone Star Repair. no uniform, the truck had no markings for their company.. Beware.. they own this company and only a ploy to get more of our money I learned.. Last contractor said the condnsor fan motor may go out. These goones Lonestar repair owned by Allied try selling me a whole new unit. Come on were poor people not stupid… Stay away, especially if they send this Lonestar group out.
Hands down, this is the worst company I have ever had to deal with for anything in my entire life. Anytime you place a service request, their canned response is that it is not covered. You have to read the contract back to them, and then they transfer you to their manager, and the process repeats itself. Sheryl (sp?) and Judy (service reps and managers) have blatantly lied to my wife and I on multiple occasions. Bryan, the general manager, is the only responsive person that will get things done. I have had to file complaints against them with the better business bureau. DO NOT give this company your business.
