Service Line Warranties Claims And Customer Service
SLWA claims to have 4 million customers across US and Canada and has supposedly performed 500,000 repairs through 2020.
Customers can file claims online or by placing a call to SLWA’s telephone number, 1-866-922-9006. When a service call is placed, the customer support team sends a pre-screened contractor. They pay for repairs directly and don’t send you any bill. This is so long as the part is covered by the contract.
The customer care services are available 24/7. However, the customer reviews by users on our website indicate overall dissatisfaction with SLWA services. Except for a few satisfied customers, the majority of complaints center around billing problems and rudeness from the customer care executives.
Service Line Warranties (SLW) States Availability
Service Line Warranties offers services in all the states, in association with the parent company, HomeServe USA. Check out the map below to get a visual idea.
What Should I Know About Service Line Warranties Of America Coverage?
Utility line breaks like broken sewer lateral, drainage problems, etc. are not covered by municipal bodies. Service Line Warranties cover such problems via their water line repair, gas line repair, underground electrical line coverage, and water heater repair services. In some places, they also cover heating and cooling systems.
The company has varying coverage limits for each plan. Exterior Water Service Line and Exterior Sewer/Septic Line plans cover repairs up to $6000 annually. The maximum payout limit is $2000 for Interior Plumbing and Drainage System Coverage Plan.
Exterior Electrical Line provides annual benefits worth $2000 whereas Interior Electrical Plan payout is capped at $1000. The maximum benefit amount for Electrical Surge Plan is $1000. The Gas Line Plus provides benefits upto $8000 and Exterior Pipe Plan covers costs upto $10,000. The Home Plumbing and Drainage Coverage provides coverage benefits as high as $12,000.
Service Line Warranties of America do cover some of the restoration services needed when the lines are dug up for repairs. However, you get no guarantees that they will fix any decorative landscape elements or pathways.
You should note that their exclusions include damage due to water pipe freezing, utility lines that connect multiple dwelling units, branches of main lines, fixes for code violations, and more. Therefore, it's necessary for you to read the contract thoroughly to understand what is covered and not covered.
There is a 30 day waiting period before the year-long policy kicks in. The plans renew automatically if you use a card for payment.
Final Word: Is Service Line Warranties Of America Legit?
Service Line Warranties of America has tied up with the municipalities of cities like San Diego and Madison to provide utility line services. However, one drawback of the company is its absence in several locations across the covered states. That includes the home state of Pennsylvania.
Despite this, Service Line Warranties can help save thousands of dollars on repairs of utility lines. The plans cover the core components that can bring your life to a standstill if they break down. They send skilled service contractors at your beck and call. They have a 30-day money-back guarantee if you’re not satisfied with your purchase.
Utility systems coverage runs complementary to home warranty in protecting your home and as such we recommend adding it to your home protection strategy. However, the low rating of SLWA is not confidence-inspiring. Therefore, we recommend checking out others that offer similar services like:
- The Home Service Club
- HomeServe USA
- IGS Residential Warranty
Service Line Warranties (slw) FAQs
What is service line coverage?
Service Line Coverage is a service agreement that covers utility line problems that you’re responsible for, as a homeowner. They tend to cover repairs, property restoration, loss of use (in some companies), and more for subterranean lines or pipes running through your property.
Is service line coverage necessary?
Nothing is strictly necessary or legally mandatory. Without service line coverage, you may end up losing anywhere between $500-7000 on service line repairs. For example, a water service line costs an average of $2,661 to replace. With a service line warranty, you pay less than $10 per month for each utility line for covered repairs. Getting service line coverage can cut down your home maintenance costs.
Is Service Line Warranty The Same As Home Warranty?
A home warranty covers repairs and replacements of home systems and appliances within the walls of the home. In contrast, service line warranty covers the underground lines or pipes supplying gas, water, and electricity, located outside your home. The two policies run complementary.
What Is Buried Utility Lines Coverage?
Buried Utility Lines coverage refers to the coverage of underground or subterranean sewer, gas, electrical, and water lines for a property. A service line warranty plan provides protection against expensive repairs due to mechanical failure for these items.
Do Home warranties cover sewer line replacement?
No, home warranties don’t cover sewer line replacement, though some companies may add it to their plans. However, HomeServe USA and others offer both types of warranty coverage.
How do I cancel my SLWA warranty?
Service Line Warranties of America plans can be canceled online or by calling the company representatives. They will want an email with your full name and postal address. You can get a full refund minus the amount for any claims filed, if you cancel within 30 days of the start of the policy. After this period, you only get a prorated refund.
What is the Service Line Warranties of Canada?
Service Line Warranties of Canada is the sister company of Service Line Warranties of America, offering service line coverage to Canadians.

Well it is 9 months later, what feels like hundreds of phone calls and hours on hold, and they have refused to pay the plumber I used for the job. I am basically out all the premiums I have been paying for years plus $3,700.00 for the sewerline fix. Besides their ultimate refusal to pay, it seems like they will disqualify you for any reason they can muster up, their customer service routinely just straight up hung up on me or my plumber and made it impossibly inconvenient to ever communicate with someone who could actually answer your questions or help you. I have five sewer lines insured by them, and I am canceling all of them!!!!! ..View less

They tried to send 2 out if state companies with 5 day lead time. My main sewer line was clogged and needed excavated for repair. I called my own plumber and got reimbursed $3800 of $7300 not including landscaping and concrete repair. Terrible continuity of phone personnel to manager/dispatchers. I got higher coverage through my homeowners policy and I can call my own contractors.

I pay 90% of my bill through my checking account and have never been late with a payment that I sent electronically. Obviously the billing department at Service Line Warranties is very inefficient. I shuddet to think what would happen if I actually had a claim. Would the paperwork be this tortuous? The City of Phoenix recommends this company. Are they getting kickbacks? Why would they use this company? ..View less

I was skeptical when I first signed up for water and sewer line protection from my house to the city's main lines for $129 per year for both. Well, this month I placed my first claim. The same afternoon an appointment was scheduled with a contractor, who showed up on time, and in 2 days my complex waste problem was solved. I'm a believer!!!!!!!!

I recently received an overdue notice and demand for additional payment, despite the fact that I paid the full amount from the last bill within five days of receiving it. I have called them on several occasions to complain that they did not charge me correctly. The usual excuse is that the payment was applied incorrectly, that the issue has been resolved, and that all is well. The following month, the situation repeats itself. Because I pay by check, and keep meticulous records, I can substantiate these allegations. This company has some very serious issues in their billing department and apparently has taken no steps to correct them. Every monthly bill requires a painful phone call. ..View less

I appreciate all the help from SLW. After having back up sewage and a clogged line for years. It is a blessing not having that problem anymore. The plumbing company was prompt in coming out and they explained what was going on and what was needed. The company called back to make sure that the service was completed and Solid plumbing follow up also. Thank you.

We called SLW to report the broken old sewer line. The Representative we spoke too was rude, blunt, and refused to cover the damaged line because it was not uncovered by their own plumbers. He accused the Contractor installing our new line breaking the old sewer line. We personally witnessed the exposure of the old line, an old cast iron line with long cracks, and saw it had been leaking into the surrounding area. Since the area had already been exposed and uncovered, the expense for SLW to pay for a new 4 foot section of sewer line would have been minimal. Yet, it was clear to us that they, like so many warranty companies, are in the business of collecting our money, then doing everything they can to deny claims. Cancelled them immediately, and will tell all we know to watch out for their business practices. ..View less

A friend recommended them to me. She had waterlines replaced at no charge. We have used them multiple times for unclogging lines with no concerns. The last time we called, they came out that same day. In December, we had a slab leak. They were able to tunnel under the house and repair the leak. It took three days and was a big job with several employees. I paid nothing out of pocket. Highly recommend.
