THE HOME SERVICE CLUB (HSC) PRICES

The cost of the Home Service club plans may vary, depending on your location, the size of your home, any add-ons you choose, and other factors. In Arizona, the Standard Coverage plan, which is an HSC plan for single-family homes, costs around $50 per month and $650 per year. The Comprehensive Coverage plan, on the other hand, may cost $60 per month and $800 per year.

Trade Call Fee

The Home Service Club offers three service fee options to choose from, which will affect the pricing of your plans. Opting for a higher service fee can reduce your monthly premium, while a lower TCF can increase it. HSC offers $65, $95, and $125, as their deductible options. You can state your preference while purchasing your plan. You should also note that real estate customers don’t have TCF options.

THE HOME SERVICE CLUB (HSC) CLAIMS & CUSTOMER SERVICE

The Home Service Club has a dedicated customer care team to serve you. The company also has a vast contractor network, extending over 10,000+ technicians to fix the malfunctioning devices in your home.

Here’s what you need to do to file your claim smoothly.

  • You can call customer service between 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. or submit a claim online 24/7, excluding weekends and holidays
  • Once your complaint is registered, HSC assigns a technician to repair or replace your system or appliance
  • Once the technician finishes fixing or replacing your device, you will be required to pay the service call fee, as stated in your contract

Once customers file a claim, HSC will send a technician within 12 business hours. On national holidays or weekends, it may take up to 48 hours working hours for the company to send a professional for an inspection. Customers are required to pay a trade call fee, or deductible, each time a technician repairs or replaces any of their devices.

THE HOME SERVICE CLUB: A FEW FINE PRINT DETAILS

If you plan on buying an HSC home warranty plan, read the service contract thoroughly before signing. You’ll learn important aspects, such as the beginning period of your coverage and ending date of your contract. Other pertinent details, including renewal, transfer or cancellation policies, deductible options, coverage limitations, and add-on coverage options are also stated in your contract.

All home warranty contracts specifically cover repair and replacement costs of damage caused by normal wear and tear. Any malfunction or damage caused by accidents, natural disasters, hazards, or unforeseen circumstances will not be covered by the Home Service Club, or any other home warranty. You can purchase Homeowners Insurance for such cases.

Another exclusion that you should be aware of is that certain parts or components of your covered item do not fall under HSC coverage. For example, even if your microwave is covered, parts like, door glass, latch assemblies, shelves, springs, etc. are not covered. Similar exclusions apply to every covered item.

HSC warranty also has set dollar limits for the repair and replacement costs of your covered items. Their maximum coverage limit for the Standard Coverage plan is $6000, and $9000 for the Comprehensive Coverage plan. Also, they pay $2000 per claim.

Another exception to HSC home warranty coverage, or for that matter, any home warranty, is that they don’t extend their services when a covered item is still under a manufacturer’s warranty. IS THE HOME SERVICE CLUB (HSC) WORTH IT?

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. I was very quickly pressured into buying the "upgraded" coverage, and have had nothing but problems. Zero resolution for anything I have called about, and worse, a vendor saying they won't work with HSC because HSC won't pay them. The first problem: they denied a claim that by any reasonable standard should have been covered. (I paid extra for pool equipment coverage... the pool pump motor gave out... they denied it because the original home inspection showed a leak in the pool pump that was fixed for reinspection. The leak has nothing to do with the motor! And I specifically had pump coverage.) But that was nothing compared to the awfulness that I'm dealing with now. An A/C problem in the summer in the desert... I have been dealing with HSC on this matter for SEVEN WEEKS, three different vendors, at least a dozen phone calls, and no resolution. Here are key details. And crucially, a vendor saying they won't work with HSC any more. --The first vendor came, diagnosed the problem, and (they said) provided the info to HSC. HSC said the vendor didn't provide it. HSC and the vendor got into a "no-you-didn't-yes-we-did" blame game. After 2 weeks and multiple phone calls from me, HSC blamed the vendor, and sent the request to a second vendor. --Here's where it got even worse, and more suspect. HSC gave me a date for vendor/provider #2. On that date, I got an HSC email that said "your provider will be coming today!" The provider never showed. When I called the provider's number, the person answering me said: *******"We no longer have a partnership with HSC because they stopped paying us. We have never received the info from them about this service call, and you are nowhere to be found in our system."******** --I called HSC, upset, and they promised a third vendor. Who eventually came out. The same scenario as the first vendor repeated: HSC claiming that the vendor never provided the "diagnosis". I have called HSC multiple times, each time the front-line agent apologized, said that they "personally" would be following up and giving me a call back. This does not happen, so I have had to call again and again, hearing the same dismissal every time. I have tried asking for a supervisor; they claim that there's no way to get patched through directly, all they can do is "submit the request for a supervisor callback" and that I'll get a call back in 24 to 48 hours. Do you think that actually happens? Nope. This has been a horrible experience. The two techs that did come out both diagnosed the issue as "the ductwork is bad, you need new ductwork." I have ductwork specifically covered in my policy. This should be straightforward. But HSC has filibustered and keeps dropping it, expecting me to give up and stop calling. If do you call, the mailbox is always full. • “We will call you back today.” (Don’t count on it.) • “We have scheduled a technician to come to your home.” They actually sent notices to me via email, with the time, date, and phone number of the “technician” scheduled to come to my home. When there was a no-show, I called the number listed on the ‘Claim update,’ and the company HSC listed said they had no scheduled appointment at my home and had never heard of HSC. One company said they don’t ever deal with home warranty companies. The worst part is they did this TWICE in a row. Imagine damaging the reputation of legitimate businesses, the angry phone calls these innocent people/businesses must get, all because HSC is a fraudulent sham. When you have had enough and ask to speak to a manager or supervisor, there is NO WAY to escalate an issue. Agents will tell you that is not possible. I have been hung up on for the asking. After almost three months without a working furnace and no resolution, their answer was: “Find your own service person to fix the issue. But you must call us when they are in your home so we can approve the claim. We reserve the right not to approve the claim.” So, I am to find my own service person to fix the issue, and you may or may not pay the claim? So what exactly am I paying for here? I had a plumbing stoppage sewage in the bath tube. I sent the estimated invoice prior to scheduling . What a joke. Takes days to get to open a call (extended hold times, no call backs), then days for the assigned service company to contact you. Absolutely the last company you should sign up with. Terrible customer service.

We have been paying customer of HSC for at least 3 years, at the end of 2019 we had a slow leak on the back of the faucet near/in the wall, we used the online service to get a plumber, 3 days pass and no one called to set an appointment , I called HSC and was given a phone number, the company was out of business, HSC set up another company, no one called from that company either, I was given another number those plumbers, the said they didn’t do business with HSC. Now it has been almost 2 weeks and I can tell that the leak is getting worse. I spoke many times with a rep and they were unable to find me a plumber. I found one and they said they would cover the repair once the plumbers completed the work and submitted a bill. I paid the bill and the extensive damage that was done since the water damaged the wall and was running under the flooring. $30,000 for the repairs and HSC didn’t even cover the plumbers visit. Now it’s Covid, and a year has passed and my washing machine isn’t draining, once again we use the online appointment setting. 3 days and no one has called, I call and get a repair service number, that number is out of service.I call and a supervisor is very kind and arranges a new company. They come in and say I need a new pump and will be back Saturday. Well Friday morning the repair service hasn’t received approval, so I call HSC and after holding and being hung up on a rep calls and says she will call back in 15 minutes after speaking with the person who does approvals. It is now Saturday at about noon pacific time and I have been calling since 6:30 am this morning and no one answers, and the call back is automated and hangs up. They do not answer service call line. There is a call back option but they don’t call back. While on hold on service line it hangs up on you at the 17 minute time frame every time. Very unhappy with service response from this company

Biggest waste of money so I canceled & they tacked all the work done that was covered in the previous yearp & deducted from my pro-ration of returned premium. Had a contract with them for two years and will be switching when this year ends. They are slow to respond to claims and quick to give excuses about why they don't cover basic issues. Note that they do not respond to emails for questions and the only way to get a response is to file a claim, even if it is just to follow up on a previous conversation. The final straw for me is the issue I am currently dealing with- an appliance broke and it is clear that the broken part is covered (the motor), however they are claiming that it is probably the dial that is broken, which of course, they do not cover. They won't send a technician/repair person out to look at it, and I even agreed to pay for the repair in full if it is determined that the issue is not covered (which is something the contract states that they are supposed to do). They have been giving me the run around for weeks. I'm switching back to American Home Shield. I never had any issues with them, they just cost a little bit more. ..View less

We specifically signed up with them as re-keying is covered. Yet, once we moved in and wanted the house re-keyed for safety and security, they gave my fiance the runaround. He had to call multiple times to request a re-keying. He had to remind Home Service Club's representatives that we were told re-keying was covered. We've had problems with our pool heater and going through Home Service Club has been a nightmare. The issue is still not resolved after three months. Home Service Club had a hard time finding local pool technicians who were willing to work with them. It has taken so long to resolve the issue that my fiance ended up calling local pool people to find someone willing to work with Home Service Club. One local technician said he won't work with Home Service Club as he had had problems getting paid by them before. When Home Service Club finally found a technician willing to work on our pool the technician was unhelpful, telling us that the pool heater worked and that we just had to "play with" the various levers (it's an old pool) to get the heat to the hot tub. So we paid someone $75 to tell us the pool wasn't broken. Then we spent time playing with the pool to see if we could get it to work. We couldn't and called another local pool person, independent of the home warranty company, who said that the pool heater was not working and that we needed to replace the pool levers. We paid this pool technician out of pocket and now we're back to square one trying to find someone to fix the problem that will work with Home Service Club. Home Service Club's customer service is a joke. The service you receive really depends on if you are lucky enough to speak with a representative who is knowledgeable. My fiance called numerous times and was at the mercy of whoever answered the phone. It's also difficult to reach a representative. I've called and left voicemail messages because I was unable to reach anyone. We will not use this company next year. They are horrible. Do not use them! ..View less

I filed a claim for our exhausts. I was received well by the agent. The repair guy followed and arrived at my house promptly. I was disappointed though that the repair guy had to go out and get missing equipment. After that, he was able to repair the exhaust.
