Cinch Home Services Plans & Coverage

Cinch Home Services offers three home protection plans to customers- Appliances Plan, Built-in Systems Plan, and Complete Home Plan.

  • The Appliances Plan covers kitchen equipment such as cooktops, dishwashers, refrigerators, etc. The plan also covers other appliances such as dryers, washers, and trash compactors.
  • The Built-in Systems Plan provides coverage for essential systems of your home such as the electric systems, heating systems, cooling systems, central vacuums, etc.
  • The Complete Home Plan is a comprehensive plan that provides coverage to both appliances and systems.
  • Premier Upgrade Package: This package can be added to any home warranty plan to cover some services that Cinch doesn’t generally include.

A few such services are electrical and plumbing modifications, code upgrades, reclamation of refrigerant, permits, condenser pads, and more.

If you want to take some time to explore your home warranty options but find yourself needing a repair suddenly, Cinch Home Services gives you the option of using their Cinch On Demand service where you can book an appointment with a pre-screened local technician. However, this feature is not available everywhere.

For realtors, buyers and sellers, Cinch Home Services has three plans, as described below:

  • The Seller Plan covers all the critical home systems and appliances you’ll want to be protected when your home is listed.
  • The Buyer Plan covers items of the Seller Plan in addition to emergency lodging reimbursement, home warranty deductible reimbursement, and rekeying.
They also offer an exclusive Claim-No-Claim Warranty®, where they offer up to $100 on HVAC maintenance if no claims are made until the 9th month.
  • The Cinch Preferred Plan is the most comprehensive option available, encompassing the above two plans and throwing in federally or locally mandated permits, equipment, refrigerant disposal, electrical, plumbing, duct modifications, and required code upgrades.

Cinch Home Services Claims & Customer Service

Cinch Home Services has a straightforward process to schedule service appointments, as described below:

  • You can contact their customer care team via the service portal or call (844) 324-5688.
  • They will collect your residence and policy details.
  • You can describe the issue you’re facing and schedule your service visit.
  • They will collect part of the trade service fee upfront and adjust it with the deductible later.

They have 24/7 customer service, and the response time is 2-4 business days.

What Should You Know Before Buying Cinch?

The foremost thing to know about home warranty coverage is that companies have a ceiling on the aggregate claims liability, which for Cinch Home Services is $10,000. Each home system or appliance has a coverage cap, and repairs and replacements will be paid up to that amount. For heating systems, the dollar payout limit is $1500, and for ACs, it is $1000. For kitchen appliance repair, CHS accepts a maximum liability amount of $2000 per item. Cinch does cover 2 of these kitchen items. Most items have a coverage cap of $1500-2000.

Another essential thing to know is that not all the parts and components undergoing mechanical failure are liable for coverage. For example, broken or collapsed sewer lines outside the foundation won’t be covered. Nor will broken plumbing lines infiltrated or clogged by roots or foreign objects, door or door track assemblies, cables, springs, etc.

They have fewer exclusions for appliance parts and components than other companies. Cinch also covers mechanical failures due to rust and corrosion and/or sediment.

They detail the circumstances under which they won’t pay, such as accidents, radioactive contamination, lightning strikes, power failure, power surge, fire, casualty, flood, smoke, earthquake, freeze damage, etc., which are more under the purview of homeowners’ insurance.

Cinch Home Services BBB

Cinch Home Services has been carefully evaluated by the BBB and has been given a B+ rating, based on information obtained from both public sources as well as directly from their reviews. This rating is an indication of Cinch Home Services's overall trustworthiness and reliability, based on factors such as the number of complaints and responsiveness to any customer concerns.

Is Cinch A Good Home Warranty?

Summing up, Cinch Home Services does get many things right with the flexible pricing options and the lower number of exclusions. Cinch Home Services complaints are comparatively minimal. There are a couple of special provisions like home insurance deductible reimbursement and free water sensor that no one else gives. They also provide 24/7 customer service.

That being said, the pricing can be higher than other home warranty companies. They do have some nice value-added services to make up for it though. We have a couple of alternatives if you feel unsure of Cinch.

What is Cinch’s Appliance Buyline Program?

How does Cinch Warranty work?

After you buy the plan and get past the waiting period, you can file a claim over a phone call or online, whenever a covered item experiences a mechanical breakdown. The company decides whether a repair or replacement is needed and pays for it accordingly.
For a more detailed look of the procedure, refer to our Claims & Customer section above.

I contacted Cinch again, since it is my responsibility to contact and schedule the repair and was this time assigned to S**** who is the epidemy of home repair services, who scheduled me for a week out. When the appointment date arrived, i called and pushed a lot of buttons trying to get someone to answer the phone, only to find out their technician was not available and rescheduled me for another week out. When this date arrived, i went a whole day trying to confirm that the technician was actually coming. It turned out again they were not coming. I again contacted Cinch and was reassigned to another service company who turned out to be over 100 miles from my house, whos idea of customer service sucks, they put you on hold for over an hour before they hung up on you. Again I contacted Cinch who has now assigned me to their dispatch department to find a service company closer to my location. I was told I had to wait for 24 - 48 hours for a response. Today id the 2nd day working on 48 hours with no response. In my opinion, cinch is in breach of contract, but I still cannot get the repairs completed and submit a bill for reimbursement. What a way to treat a good paying CUSTOMER with service. No accountability. ..View less

Soooooo disappointed! I would 100% not recommend Cinch! We bought for a piece of mind at closing of house, based on previous experience with America’s Home Warranty. Boy were we in for a surprise. It took Cinch about 2 months to send out there packet that outlined their claim procedures. In the first few weeks of owning the home we had 3 issues that needed plumbing. Not knowing the claim procedure. We had pluming done. Because we did not go through them, our work was not covered. We would have followed the procedures had Cinch been timely on their mailings to new clients. If looking for a warranty company, go elsewhere. Look for company that is timely with providing information. I called tonight, following procedures and was made to pay deductible up front not knowing when the service would be provided. My basement drains were backing up! Then when I called the number of this no name company I was given, they had no voicemail. So now what? Use America’s Home Warranty instead! ..View less

Today is the 17th business day and now the Cinch representative is stating the check won't go out the door until the 21st business day. Cinch is communicating inconsistent information. This is not fair practice - essentially we are paying for two warranties until they send the refund. Cinch had no problem cashing our check as soon as they received it but they seem to have trouble reimbursing us. Now, I have a confirmation number for a refund and confirmation callback number to speak with supervisor. Unreal, unstructured. ..View less

I was advised after getting approval for a water heater replacement that I would be charged an additional $90 for an additional technician. The agent advised the service would require 2 technicians and I have to cover it. This is very poor business. I was also advised there would be a permit that has to be pulled by my city and I would be charged an additional $125. I reached out to the city to verify and was told I could actually pull the permit myself and it is only $50 if they pull it or if I pull it. I advised Cinch Fixd I would be happy to do it and per R*** it would not be allowed. I am reaching out to my warranty company to assist. Please watch yourself with this company. When we have requested that a manager talk to us, we have been denied that option (who did you contract to run your customer service?). Frankly, I am at a loss. I am with this home service for more than one and half year. This year on Memorial Day weekend found central air conditioner was not working. After few weeks they sent technicians to solve the problem. Those technicians failed. Then Cinch instructed me to call the manufacturer of the unit. They found wrongdoing by the previous technicians and Cinch declined to pay their visit and job assignment. I didn’t have air conditioner during summer when temperature was more than 90 degree Fahrenheit. Now during cold I don’t have heat (the unit is combined air conditioner and furnace). Now I am with the better business bureau. Waiting and suffering from the negligence by this home service company. If there were options of giving minus star, I would give them minus 5 star. ..View less

This company refuses to reimburse me for either the cost of the repair or what their usual and customery cost would be. To date I have paid $1800 over 3 yrs for this warranty. I should say that they texted that I would get a concierge call x2 to assist with this matter but to date no calls. I'm going ahead with the repair today as I've reached the end of my rope. I plan to call Better Business Bureau to hopefully prevent others from getting burned. Rating 0 ..View less

Super shady company, and they will make you fight for anything to be done right. If one of their crappy contractors ruins your house, you have to deal with calling the contractors insurance company on your own. These companies will not stand behind you. They will hide behind eachother. They are only there to give you a service call price and find a service man.....if he's a bad one, oh well , that's on you to clean up after. ..View less

Just stay away from this company. It is just money, time & effort wasted down a clogged drain. For one they are very slow to respond with a repair fix and the technicians they send over have no clue as to the issue (probably are trying to learn on the job) leading to wasted time and heartburn. If only I could give them a negative rating, I would, but the least I can give them here is a 1*

This company was beyond awful. They sell a great sounding "plan" and all these add-ons to cover appliances, pool equipment, and other optionals and make it sound easy to file claims online. We paid over $860 in service fees before we had to file our first claim. On our first service call they sent a technician who did not know the equipment at all. He blamed "maybe the circuit board", "maybe the pump". We asked how much it would be to fix and said we'd be happy to just pay to get it fixed, but he said he had to send a report back to Cinch first and that they'd call us back. The technician said the dishwasher was cheap crap from China and told us we should buy a new unit. Surprise, surprise, Cinch never called or emailed. Instead, they simply marked our claim online as "Completed" with no explanation. We noticed this, so we called them to ask what happened. The phone rep said they would have to file something and get back to us. A couple days later they emailed to say they denied our claim (but still charged us $100 for the guy to come out) because the dishwasher broke due to "calcium buildup" and lack of proper maintenance. We disputed the claim with Cinch, which they sat on for an additional few days, and then emailed again that they would not look into it further. Based on the reviews here and elsewhere, this seems their entire strategy - send incompetent technicians, teach them to blame the customer for lack of maintenance, and then ignore or deny claims/complaints. They even reply to your complaints from an email address which you can't respond to to follow up! We ended up calling GE directly and the technician arrived within 4 hours and had the unit fixed within an hour. It turned out to be a part jammed in the motor, the motor wasn't even broken. It was NOT calcium build up and there was nothing wrong with the unit! He fixed it and all was well - and it was less than $250 vs. the $860 we had paid Cinch thus far. So basically, Cinch stalls as long as possible after denying your claim so you just give up and pay to get it fixed yourself. Complete waste of money. Steer clear. ..View less
