As the owner of a newer home, I thought about passing on the Home Warranty at renewal time, but because of the excellent customer service and speed of repairs in the past, I decided to continue. I had water leaking from my garbage disposal and the service tech was on time and very efficient with the repair. My house is old and the unit was hardwired to the electrical wiring so he had to go get a disposal that would work.. Very quick with repairs and cleaning up.

i wished I could say that my first experience with 2-10 was a good experience-- but I can't.

Long hold time (15 minutes), told the clerk that there was water spilling onto my kitchen floor and was told to call my builder. If I had known that, I would have called the builder first.

We purchased our first home on June 2nd, 2016. Of all the issues attendant with home ownership this has by far been the worst experience. We maintained the following notes of our negative experiences with 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty (2-10):

It all began when we tried to transfer the service agreement from the previous home owner on June 6th. We initially discussed the transfer with Bo and Jonathan with 2-10 at 2:47pm and were told that our service agreement would be re-enrolled and that accounting “should be calling you shortly.” Accounting never called us. We were unable to submit service requests without an active service agreement, i.e., several things needed to be fixed in the house.

On June 13th at 4pm, I called 2-10 because we were still unable to submit service requests due to an inactive service agreement. According to Tim at 2-10, “it did renew”—referring to our service agreement.

On June 20th at 6:32pm, I called Bo (with agent services) and Mike (with accounting) at 2-10 because we were still unable to submit service requests due to an inactive service agreement. According to Bo, “The warranty is now in your name,” assuring us that the service agreement was active now.

On June 25th at 4:16pm, I called 2-10 because our service agreement was still inactive. I left a voicemail. I then submitted a written complaint on 2-10’s website.

On June 28th at 6:22pm, I called 2-10 because my voicemail was not returned, my complaint was not responded to, and my agreement was still inactive. I called Justin who finally was able to activate our service agreement.

On July 27th, the local water company shut off our home’s water because of a leaking water pipe in the front yard. We put in a service request through 2-10. The 2-10 contractor arrived at our home and told us that our home warranty does not cover a leaking water pipe outside the home. He then demanded that we pay the $75 fee required of all 2-10 contractors even though he could not work on the pipe. Instead, we paid him $300 to fix the pipe and it was not covered through the warranty. We put this exact problem in our service request, yet 2-10 still assigned a contractor and the contractor still responded to our home knowing that it was not going to be covered by the warranty.

On November 4th, we had enough and cancelled our service agreement. We did not submit a single service request throughout our warranty coverage (other than the water pipe leak) because of the totality of bad experiences.

I highly discourage all home owners from purchasing a home warranty through 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty. They are difficult to work with (unless they are trying to get your money), and they are not responsive to your issues. They cannot be contacted after hours, and if you try to leave a voicemail or complaint they do not respond. They charge you $75 per service request in addition to the service agreement amount, which was approximately $27 per month.

Ice maker had stopped working so I called 2-10 Warrenty and within a few hours a tech had called,came to my house and fixed the ice maker!!! On top of that the tech called me the next morning to make sure it was working properly, now that's what I call service!

I have had 2/10 for nine years and am debating about renewing for the 10th year or going with another company. Overall, they have been fairly good. One objection I have with them is they tend to mostly use very small companies and they may be located four hours away from where I live. Some vendors they were going to send to my house, I found out through BBB that they had numerous complaints so I refused to have them come to my house. A lot of the companies are not even listed with BBB as they are one man companies. Quite a few of my claims have been resolved without a hitch but not all. Several years ago, the push buttons on my stainless steel built in stove would not work and could not be replaced as the parts were n longer made. I have a total stainless steel kitchen that was brand ne when I bought my home in 2007 with solid oak cabinets. 2-10 tried to settle with me for $500.00 of which I naturally refused. Then they tried to offer me a white stove of which I also refused. The they wanted to buy me a black stove. I explained that all of my appliances are stainless steel and my kitchen was brand new when I moved into my home and I would not accept a stove of a different color!! This went on for what seemed forever. Finally I had to resort to informing them that I was going to contact an attorney. At that point, we finally agreed upon a settlement of which I felt was not fair but wanted to get it resolved and needed to get my kitchen back in working order! The Sears in our town was going out of business and they had a stainless steel stove on close out for $1,300.00 plus tax and delivery. 2 -10 paid me $1,10.00 towards the purchase of the replacement stove so do not let them fool you into thinking they will pay at replacement cost as that just is not true!!!! I have had several air conditioning calls over the 10 years I have lived in my home and on one occasion, they were going to send a a/s vendor from North Georgia and it was going to be a week before they would be able to handle the service call. It was 95 degrees in out home in the middle of summer so I had to explain that they have to send someone that can come before then!! Instead of finding vendors in your area for your specific problem, they go down a list of vendors and send the nest vendor on the list with no consideration as to how far away from you they are. If you find a vendor in your area that is on their vendor list, you have to be sure and request only that vendor. After all these years, I finally have a local plumbing company and a local air conditioning company that both do a good job!!! I see improvements they could make to their system such as trying to send local vendors to you from your area. After checking around, it seems they are more expensive than the competition a last year, I paid $750.00 but previous years, I think I paid close to $1,000.00 Be sure and purchase the deluxe of everything, especially on A/C. The first year, my warranty was purchased by the seller and she only bought the basic coverage. I had an a/c call that next summer and the repair cost me $240.00 even though my deductible was only $50.00. After that, I have purchased the top of the line coverages. Good luck!!! view less

A very positive experience with 2-10 Home Warranty. Our 10 yo wall oven catastrophically failed (electrical short/fire) Saturday evening. I submitted an on-line claim that same evening and received a response the next day informing me of the service provider who would be contacting me to arrange service call. Could not have been more pleased with the service provider. He was prompt, knowledgeable, friendly and extremely customer service oriented. When he called in to 2-10 (while still on his service ) he not only identified the failure cause but also proactively checked to make sure replacements parts were available (a key component not due to age of oven). The 2-10 claims representative immediately authorized a replacement claim (didn't need to check with someone higher up and get back to me). Within hours, I received a replacement/buyout offer letter. We chose replacement. 2-10 coordinated the delivery and installation of new oven and removal of old oven. All in all, we were very pleased. view less

Most all repairs except the washing machine, that have been called in to 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty (A/C and Pool Heater) have a long drawn out fight and hassel. They keep sending repair people who have to only do band aid fixes without really fixing the real problems and costing time, more damage and money in the long run. They were wonderful on a small thing, but when you have a large item after you've paid there fees for years you get a major run around. This company is only for the people who want to fight the battle and are strong. Final straw after 12 or 13 years (now that the big things are breaking and you really need them) I won't be renewing with them. Better to start a savings account with what their monthly fee is and when you need the money it'll be there without the run around and BS. Think long and hard before you sign up for one of these companies. view less

Had an issue with my garage door (sensor wiring) and called in for service. I had planned to do the request on line but my issue wasn't listed in the drop down section so I called to be sure it was covered. I had no problems with calling it in and the person I spoke with was very helpful. He assured me it was covered and placed the request for me. It was given to Cornerstone Door for the repairs. The work was completed correctly and in a timely manner. The technician was knowledgeable and helpful and went above and beyond on telling me how to maintain my garage door. These helpful hints went a long way to make me a very satisfied customer!!!! view less

This is the worst home warranty company I have ever dealt with. After months of calls and waiting, I still don't have my oven fixed. Of course, during that time of waiting the warranty ran out and I wasn't about to send them more money. I'd give them all zero stars if I could.

Overall customer service is fine. You are better off filing online. Takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r to answer the phone. It's always "an overload of calls". The lowest bidder is frequently the assigned repair service, but if you have issues, complaints are handled quickly. All calls I've made have been handled. Peace of mind is a good thing! I recommend Home Warranty.

Our water is very hard here and stinks to high heavens, our technician explained the problem and how it could be rectified through installation of a filtration system. After purchasing our new home, we called for service a few times for some minor issues. The repair personnel sent were timely, courteous and took care of our issues quickly. We are very pleased with this warranty service.

Garage door opener sensor died, leaving us with limited use. After fussing with part replacement on my own, called 2/10. Contracted individual (AA Choice Garage Door) called me back the same day, scheduled visit for next. Part replaced as soon as located: very prompt and with notifications when part delays occurred. I returned from vacation to find my air conditioner unit not working. I called 2-10 Home Warranty the next day and was provided with the name and number of the company that was coming to make thew repairs. Within 48 hours someone was there to make the necessary repairs. 2-10 finds local business people to service their clients, not the big names which we see in the ads around town. This helps to keep the cost down. I have been with 2-10 for five years now and have saved a lot of money on the repairs needed. view less

I was waiting for the service person from TempRite Mechanical to come and service my air conditioner. Both my cell and house phone didn't ring and I didn't hear my doorbell though I was sitting in the kitchen. Both phones showed that calls were made to my numbers. I wasn't until I checked my cellphone an hour after a message was left that I realized they had been trying to contact me. The service person contacted me and showed up 15 minutes after I had returned the phone call from the office. Even though the service person said he was late for another appointment he too his time and serviced my air conditioner unit outside and checked the unit in the attic. He even explained how to raise the unit off the ground so it would drain better and prevent grass clippings from getting into the unit. I truly appreciated that they did not put me off until another day. The service person was friendly and very professional. He answered my questions politely and did not mind that I stood and watched what he was doing. I fully recommend TempRite.!! view less

I've had a contract with 2-10 for 8 yrs. I needed to use the services on 2 occasions and have been completely satisfied. My last service was last week and the contractor, Dillon Plumbing, went above and beyond. Completely satisfied with 2-10 and will be with them for years to come.

I recently moved and asked for the home owners to buy a home warranty for me because part of the deal was for them to leave all of the appliances, many of which were quite old and well used. Immediately, I found a problem with the washer leaving a huge dirty streak on many items of clothing. I called 2-10 Home Warenty, the company from which the home owners had bought my policy, to report the problem and request a service call. I got an immediate response, which offered me a rebate of $100 if I purchased a new washer. With the $25 for the service call that I saved along with the rebate, I was able to buy a brand new washer on sale that was deeply discounted. I had the new washer the next day, so I submitted my rebate request that same day. That was a week and a half ago, and I already have my rebate check. I'd say this was the best deal ever! view less
