Complete Appliance Protection, Inc was established in 1998. A popular home warranty company headquartered in Missouri, it operates almost nationwide barring Wisconsin, New York, and Massachusetts. It provides services in Alaska unlike many other companies. Complete Appliance Protection is one of the few international home warranty companies with coverage even in Canada.
The company is reputed for its diverse range of products targeted towards homeowners, realtors, home inspectors, landlords and tenants. Complete Protection’s plans are competitively priced and offer varying levels of coverage with a large variety of add-on items.
Unlike other companies, CP claims that it does not pick and choose what parts to cover. The coverage is highly comprehensive, though subject to lower contractual limits on average.

Complete Appliance Protection Plans
Complete Appliance Protection Plans has 4 plans and a wide range of add-on options. This makes their plans highly customizable.
- Essential Plan: This plan priced about $45 a month covers one unit of a central forced air heating and cooling system, water heater, microwave, oven, dishwasher, and cooktop.
- Advanced Plan: This plan priced about $55 a month covers one of a central forced air heating and cooling system, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, cooktop, washer, dryer, oven, electrical wiring, water heater, and pipe leaks.
- Comprehensive Plan: This plan covers one of electrical wiring, and pipe leaks in addition to the components of the Advanced Plan at about $65 per month.
- Ultimate Plan: This plan provides the most expansive coverage among all the Complete Appliance Protection plans at about $75 a month. It covers everything from the Comprehensive Plan plus drain line stoppages, faucets, toilets, light fixtures, shower heads, ceiling and exhaust fans.
Optional Items in Complete home warranty include wine cooler, boiler, dryer, septic tank, trash compactor, etc. and many items covered in higher plans for customization of lower-level plans.
Complete Appliance Protection Claims
Complete Appliance Protection is known for its quick and efficient customer service that it claims provides a response in 3-4 rings of a telephone call. Many other companies have automated IVR systems and may delay assigning a service technician.
Filing a claim with Complete Protection home warranty is a simple process as follows:
- Log into your customer account to file a claim online or reach out to CP over the phone.
- The customer service representative provides you with an authorization number.
- You can then choose a technician or service company form the Complete Appliance Protection network and get an appointment by telling them the above number.
- You can also choose your own contractor and have them diagnose the issue. Call the company to get the repairs approved and they will give you an Override Authorization Number. The technician can bill them directly under this number or alternatively, you can send the invoice and get a reimbursement.

What Inclusions and Exclusions Are There In Complete Home Warranty Contracts?
Complete Protection home warranty plans are ideal for homeowners and landlords, however those getting the plan for their rental property have to pay an additional $5 per month. Only those items explicitly mentioned are covered and only one unit of any specified item is covered. Second units of any system or appliance have to be added by the optional menu.
While Complete Home Protection warranty covers all the parts and components of a system or appliance under the sheet metal skin, it only covers breakdowns due to normal wear and tear or electrical and mechanical failure. Coverage begins only after a 30 day waiting period from the date of purchase of the plan.
Complete Appliance Protection home warranty comes with dollar limits on the aggregate claims value per item. If the company chooses reimbursement over repair then the following ceiling amunts are fixed:
- Upto $100 for garage door opener, light fixtures, faucets, showerheads, garbage
- disposal, toilets, ceiling fans and exhaust fans
- Upto $950 for packaged AC unit and $700 for AC outside condensing unit, and boiler
- Upto $1000 for plumbing system, electrical system and septic system failures each

Does CP give unlimited coverage on the systems and appliances?
Complete Protection plans are very comprehensive and unique in the market for extensively covering every part under the skin of a device. However, the coverage is not truly unlimited as there are upper limits on the aggregate claims value. These limits are in fact lower than those of some other companies. Yet, their plans require no deductibles to be paid during the service visit, hence the costs could be offset, defending on the scope of the work.
Can I join CP to get my broken system or appliance fixed?
Unfortunately, a home warranty plan only protects functional systems and appliances from future breakdowns due to normal wear and tear. Your items will not be covered unless they can be verified to be in working by a simple home inspection. Though many companies claim to not ask for home inspections, getting one reduces chances of claim denial.
What does Complete Protection not cover?
CP doesn’t cover the following items that many other companies usually do: Pool, spa, sump pump, ductwork, roof repairs, and other structural systems, and sprinkler system.

The icemaker is freezing up and I requested service. Service company, Kitchen Ace Appliance out of Houston, was chosen and dispatched by Complete Protection to do the repair. In the process of the inspection, the serviceman scratches the face of the refrigerator. He tells us he cannot complete the repair of the icemaker without parts being ordered and requests authorization. Complete Protection decides not to repair the icemaker. Instead, they want me to go out and buy a new fridge and with proof of buying a new fridge, they will issue a $500 check. They will not pay for anyone to repair the icemaker, it's buy a new fridge or they will not do anything further. Icemaker remains broken even though I have a so-called "warranty" and no one wants to take responsibility for scratching the surface of the fridge. Complete Protection are fraud specialists. This is the language from their contract, "C. PROTECTION SUMMARY: 5. The Company will provide repair service on Your protected items to restore them to standard operating condition as a result of normal usage and electrical or mechanical component failure." This is a straight up lie. In their contract, they contradict themselves by saying "12. The Company will determine, at its sole discretion, whether a protected system or appliance will be repaired or replaced. If the Company declines to repair a protected item, You will be reimbursed towards the replacement and installation of a new protected system or appliance per the schedule in Section G." Section G says they will provide $500 for a new fridge. Really? Who can buy a new fridge for that amount of money. So no repair and refusal to pay the funds for a new icemaker without first paying thousands of dollars for a new fridge. I have used several home warranty companies. By far CP has been the best over the past 10 years. Never have failed to fix or offer a partial cost of replacement. CP Pays for AC/Heating preventative costs if both done at same time.

I just bought a home not too long ago and I am very happy with my experience with this home warranty company. They actually have a live person on the other line when you call and the people they send out are knowledgable about the repairs. I have been a customer for the last two years but until recently I haven’t needed to use it. A couple weeks ago my washing machine died with clothes locked inside. We’ve been with Complete Appliance Protection about 4-5yrs now and are completely satisfied. Our home is 16yrs old and appliances started to go. When repairs were needed, it was easy to contact CAP and they always had a technician the next day. When appliances needed to be replaced, they reimbursed very quickly. The monthly payments and what they cover is right on point. Highly recommended.

I have been with Complete Protection for 5 years and I'm very satisfied with the service provided. With a 0 deductible for service calls, I never have the worry about paying out-of-pocket to have someone come and look at the appliance problem. Minor repairs are also covered.

Fast, friendly and reliable! I always use my own technitions and never have a problem getting reimbursed. We have an older home so we've had to use them on several occasions. We ALWAYS get a REAL person to answer the phone and it hasn't mattered what time it was. So very happy to have this service!

I have them the over 8 years, and recently needed the service, as my air condition stopped working, I called them and they assigned technician, the technician gave me a quote of over $2800, the CAP told me that they will give me $350 towards it, I was shocked that I have been paying for last eight years and they offered me $350. you can confirm with them before you buy. I recommend Sears.

They also would not even allow my husband who is a realtor to refer his clients to them!
