2-10 Home Buyers Warranty CLAIMS

The claims process for 2-10 home warranty is quite simple and you can easily apply for a service request anytime you are facing a repair. You can apply for a service request in two easy ways, by placing a phone call or logging online. 

  • You can log in to the Homeowner Portal and select the appliance or system that needs a repair 
  • Enter information about the brand and model and answer a series of questions
  • The closest authorized service contractor will be selected to service your claim
  • After placing the service request, you can log in anytime to check the status of the claim
  • The contractor will diagnose the problem and suggest a solution accordingly
  • The claim’s validity will be determined by the 2-10 home buyers warranty company

You can also use the homeowner’s portal to look for other available features. You can find your property information, coverage details and the eligibility to add extra coverage to your warranty plan for up to 30 days after enrollment with your online account.

2-10 Home Buyers Warranty Plan Exceptions

Every appliance or system that is covered by a 2-10 home warranty has particular limitations and exclusions. To quote an example, 2-10’s electrical system coverage does not include data wiring, wiring outside the house or garage, doorbells that are part of intercoms, whole-house fans, and meter boxes.

Another common exception to 2-10 home warranty customers is that they don’t get to choose their repair person. Having repair work done by another technician without their approval may result in denied coverage.

The 2-10 home buyer’s home warranty offers a maximum coverage of $25,000. It is comparatively higher than most other home warranty coverages. Each appliance or system covered under this home warranty has specific coverage limitations which are mentioned in the individual service agreements.

Q. What is covered under real estate home warranties cover?

2-10 HBW real estate home warranty plans cover appliances and systems. The plan includes a furnace, split system, water heater, plumbing, dishwasher, washer & dryer, built-in microwave, and refrigerator. Besides, it also protects stand-alone freezer, wine cooler, roof leak, water softener, extended pipe leak, septic system, and pool/spa equipment.

How does 2-10 HBW’s home warranty work?

2-10 HBW’s home warranty working is a 5-step process. Purchase coverage that suits your needs and scrutinize the service agreement. Next, register to create an account in the homeowner portal. For service, submit a request through the registered portal. The company dispatches a contractor who fixes your appliance or system. Lastly, provide your valuable service feedback to the company.

What does seller coverage include?

Under seller coverage, the company covers refrigerators with ice maker, plumbing, heating, and electrical systems. If a request is placed on an eligible item, the service fee is due. The benefits of seller coverage are it offers budget protection and has minimum closing delays.

Do- 2-10 HBW have any waiting period?

No. 2-10 HBW does not include any waiting period. The seller’s coverage starts on enrollment and buyers on closing. For lease-option homes, the coverage begins when the payment is received.

What is a structural warranty?

Structural warranty offers proven protection for the distribution system, load-bearing structural components, and home’s workmanship. 2-10 HBW’s structural warranty offers insurance backed, third-party protection. Under the structural warranty, items such as roof covering, cabinets, fireplace, waste piping, foundation & footing systems, etc. are covered.

Does 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty pay for replacements?

Yes, the company, in addition to covering expensive appliance & system repairs, 2 pays for new replacements, if required. The replacement cost is paid under real estate home warranty plans.

What is 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty Pricing?

The annual cost of a home warranty service contract depends on the type of coverage you need or choose. Plans can be as low as $300 and can range up to $1,000, depending on the coverage you choose. Other factors that can affect your warranty pricing can be the place where you reside, or the service call fee you select. These can increase your monthly payments. Other costs that you may incur is if or when you exceed your maximum coverage limit, and if you add extra items that are not included in your coverage. 2-10 home warranty’s appliance coverage costs $425-$725 annually or $30-$60 monthly. A systems coverage plan costs $300-$450 per annum and $25-$50 monthly. A standard combo coverage costs $500-$750 per year and $45-$70 per month. A combo plan with add-ons costs $700-$1000 per annum and $60-$90 per month. The plans start as low as $37/month and cover systems & appliances that are likely to malfunction. I think that this was very unprofessional for a contractor who I felt like did not want to do the job in the first place because of the location of the repair and his ability to comply. I am not a service contractor, I did not diagnose this issue. Only an IDIOT would spend $377 on parts, when they could have gotten a brand new microwave for half that...again it's my lost. Nothing is covered. Read the fine print. Bought a house with a pool. Paid extra to cover the pool, but wait the heater is not covered because it's a heat pump. We offer $100 if you just want to replace your appliances rather than replace, oh, except garbage disposals. Oh yeah. And you didn't pay extra for the washer and dryer. Save your money. Its a scam

Luckily I checked in on that Monday to see if there was any activity on my claim. There wasn't. I called 2-10 which was an ordeal. It took about 15 min to speak to someone. They allowed me to select my own contractor after they told me that it could take an additional 48 hours for a contractor to be assigned to my claim. 2-10 sent me specific instructions to follow so I could have the work authorized and be reimbursed. Unfortunately, I could not contact them to inform them of my contractors findings because the work authorization number is the same call-in number that takes 15-20 minutes for a person to answer. in the beginning, this company was customer friendly and addressed service issues promptly. Now, i can get through to talk to someone, no responses on service requests place from providers nor are they within the reasonable proximity to my home. i am very unsatisfied and honestly need to speak to someone and need some kind of restitution for the service i am receiving.

I am NOT happy with the home warranty experience AT ALL. We put in a work order on December 19th because our fridge started to become warm and wouldn't hold the cold at all. We received 3 different emails regarding service contractors. The 3rd email finally had the service contractor that was actually assigned to us, it also said to wait 24 hours (weekday) or 48 hours (weekends) to hear from your service contractor. We never heard from him so we had to call him to schedule an appointment. That was after calling 2-10's customer service line, being on hold for almost 25 minutes, and being told by some rude customer service agent to just call the contractor. The contractor came out a few days later and said he had to order over $600 in parts. That's half of what this fridge it worth. After not hearing back for over a week we called the contractor again who then said "eta for parts 1/06" . On 01/11 (After not hearing anything again) I called the contractor and left a voicemail and also sent him a text. Still nothing, so I called 2-10's customer service line again. Once again was greeted by a rude customer service representative. I was explaining my frustration of being without a fridge for almost a month and was told "I can either call the contractor or send out a new guy and you'll have to pay the $75 service charge and start everything all over again." So he called the contractor and the contractor magically had the parts in. Which I still then had to call to set up an appointment. He never called us. We set the appointment up, he came out and (fixed) our fridge. We couldn't open it or use it for 24 hours. After the 24 hours, the ice machine, water, and still the cooling was not working or holding. If you tried to use the water, the water sound would sound but turned out it was just leaking water all over the fridge. Sent in another service request and had to call the contractor again to set up an appointment. That was on 1/17 when we sent in the new service request. The contractor came out to look at it again on 1/21 and determined that the fridge needed to be completely replaced. We hadn't heard anything back for a few days so I reached out to the contractor on 1/25 to see if he had submitted the diagnosis because on the 2-10 dashboard it said it was still under "appointment set" and he said he was waiting for the purchasing supervisor to call him back. I called 2-10 home warranty on 1/26 and FINALLY had a pleasant customer service rep. He reached out to the contractor because it was showing he hadn't submitted the diagnosis yet either. The contractor asked him to send him an email and that he would do it that night. Which was a Friday. The contractor didn't even send it in until Tuesday evening. Finally got a call from their purchasing department on Wednesday 1/27 saying that they're moving forward with the work order and that I should be receiving an email in the "next couple days with a replacement model or a cash value" The woman on the phone was also nice. I just called the purchasing department on 2/1 and they said that the replacement wasn't submitted until 1/29 and that it'll take 3-5 business days. The lady I just spoke to was very nice and seemed very sympathetic (she should train all your rude unsympathetic reps). She let me know exactly what she was putting in for notes and said she was going to send it up so hopefully someone can call me sooner. Seriously, whoever I dealt with last, she was great. Literally after 20 minutes of hanging up with her I received a call that they're finally sending over the email with the replacement or cash offer. So thank you so much to the last person I chatted with. We had money left over after closing, and I honestly regret spending it on another year on this home warranty. Wait times are insanely long, most times they tell you to work with the contractor, and 50% are down right rude. I usually NEVER write reviews, but this process has been horrible. Figured I can let other people know what they're signing up for. The contractor was nice, it just seemed like he had poor time management. Overall would NOT recommend this home warranty. Maybe a different one, but definitely not this one. ..View less

Second repairman diagnosed the problem in 15 minutes and obviously only needed 15 minutes to install a new thermostat. If I had not become fed up with the first A/C company and the warranty company and taken the initiative and gotten a different company here who knew what to do, I have no idea how long the first company would have taken getting the evap cooler, etc. Absurd! ..View less

The staff is always pleasant and helpful for inquiries or filing a claim. Getting reimbursement though is another story. Had to call out a heating company and since there was not one under contract in my area I had to front the bill after approval and get reimbursed on the back end. Last week I had to open a service request for same unit, but now the heat. Turns out that the exhaust hose had been removed and not reattached by prior techs. FOrtunately I had not thrown this away, and so current techs could just use the hose and reattach it. Problem solved, atfer days of cold and probably an increase in my utility bill. It doesn't seem right that I should have to pay the service fee for any of these two requests: the first for negligent technicians and the second as an unnecessary call due to the negligent techs.
