The Home Depot was founded in 1978 by Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank. The founders had a vision to create a one stop shopping spot for hardware and appliance requirements. The Home Depot offers a host of services and benefits to their customers. All customers receive attractive benefits with the plans they purchase. In addition to this, all plans provide 100% coverage for labor and functional parts and any item costing over $300 that can’t be repaired, will be replaced.

The Home Depot maintains a website which is equipped to provide customers with any help they require. Customers can purchase appliances/ hardware items and protection plans through their site. They can also register their plans onsite to get faster and hassle free services. Filing and tracking of claims can also be done online.

Any hardware/ appliance you buy from one of the number Home Depot stores across the country, is eligible for protection. Customers simply need to visit their store or website for acquiring the product or the warranty plan. All extended warranty plans are priced reasonably and they charge no deductible for service visits.

Do not bother buying the extended warranty, It's not worth the head ache, We can't get things repaired they denied service on a John Deere that I bought a 3 year extended warranty.
So nothing is covered.

I'm still middle of the road on this company. On June 24th LG fridge threw a error code. reset power and cleared the error but came back the next day. requested service for 2 days later (today, Wednesday). No call, nothing Today the 27th and called again. I call the number from the email confirmation and got a person 80 miles away. Contacted HD protection plan department and they said the case was assigned and I'd be getting a courtesy call. That was at 8:30 AM. Now it's 10:30. I'm losing food quickly and I just stocked up from Costco. I will update my rating. Fridge has been good so far. Funny thing is the error is known and points to the fridge defrost system. Freezer works ok just no cold air blowing in the top of the fridge compartment. Also meat draw, at the bottom of the compartment things are frozen. I know it's only a few days but this is not looking good for any response. view less

Part of the reason we bought at Home Depot over Best Buy was because the purchase with the warranty seemed to be a better deal.

Wrong. I went to make a claim with their warranty for a leaking refrigerator. its coming from around where the water filter goes, so I can assume a hose or a problem with the filter housing. After discussing the issue with the rep on the phone she begins to setup the appointment. The last question she asked me was "is the refrigerator in a climate controlled area?" This is in my garage. i don't put heat and air out there. I live in Orange, CA. It doesn't get over 105 and no less than 35 degrees.

They declined to do the service. "it isn't climate controlled, we are declining your claim." I asked the rep if I didn't have AC in my house that they would decline it too? YES, she said. What a crock, like that has anything to do with this issue. If the Tech come to my house are they going to inspect that I have a AC condenser on my roof or the side of my place? Total BS. They were looking for any reason to deny the claim. I feel like they would have done it if it were under the manufactures warranty and they would have been compensated, forth year of the policy, no way.

Terrible service, and completely a waste of time. I was at least able to get a full refund on this crappy warranty from the Home Depot store where I bought the warranty. And I bought it four years ago, so that's I'll give Home Depot, the store good marks there. However, the company they use for "insurance", and make no mistake they are selling you and appliance insurance policy and not a warranty service, is horrible. Buy your appliances at best buy where their service is truly in house with their Geek Squad. Like I did right after because my dryer is also broken. i hope Home Depot people read these, cause you lost a nice sale on an appliance today because of your shoddy warranty product. view less

their protection plan has cost me a lot of money.I bought a 3400 dollar LG refrigerator it stopped working. It took 45 days to get it working. That lasted about a year.It quit again.I could not wait another 45 days to get it fixed.I bought a new refrigerator. I asked for a food loss claim form. To this date they have not sent me one.

I wish I would have read these reviews before I made a Home Depot purchase. I can not believe the unprofessionalism that I’ve been treated with by these employees.

Put a claim in on 6/12/18 for my less then 3 years LG Refrigerator (compressor) and today is 6/19/18 and it still have not been fixed. My case manager doesn't return calls and/or bother to notify me when there's been a change/updates in my status.

Customer representatives are trained robots no compassion and understanding.

Will never recommend anyone to purchase appliances from HOME DEPOT let alone buying into the 5 years protection plan. STAY AWAY from LG APPLIANCES!

FUNNY.....HOW WE ARE ALL HAVING THE SAME ISSUES BUT THESE LG REFRIGERATORS ARE NOT CONSIDER "LEMONS" view less

I was lucky, I only lost the cost of a $ 80.00 electric chain saw. Their return policy allowed only for a store credit, as the store I originally purchased the saw, along with their 2 year warranty, had closed.
After numerous trips to the local Home Depot and a failure to be able to use my credit towards buying another product, I was told the credit could only be used for in stock items only. I now have a useless $81.45 plastic card and got no satisfaction at all from their customer service people.
I thank god I never bought anything major from these clowns, after seeing how they handled an $ 81.00 claim view less

I bought a GE refrigerator from Home Depot dealing with the extended warranty has been a nightmare refrigerator has been down since May of this year 2018 everything freezes in the refrigerator we do not have running water through there because the lines are frozen I have been given the runaround and placed on hold so many times only to be told that there is nothing they can do I have to wait another week to be able to talk to the service department service department AAR here in California apparently tells you 3 to 5 business days and then turns around and tells you that they need more time so much food has gone to waste waiting for them to get this fixed the customer service reps and so are the managers especially Ben employee number 640-2024. I cannot believe there is no one we can call to complain about this I'm trying to currently locate a number for their corporate office so if anybody has any ideas or suggestions please let me know view less

Put a claim in on May 11th 2018 for my 21 month old LG refrigerator. They've sent Jersey Coast appliance out to my house 7 times for the same issue. It's now June 6th 2018 and I still have no refrigerator and they are still dragging their feet.

Don't buy the home depot extended warranty, it's bad!

Horrible company. Had over 10 repairs to my dishwasher in 16 months. Never fixed it. One repair tech flooded my house. I am now permanently paying $700 more a year in homeowners insurance. They finally agreed to replace the dishwasher but won't reimburse me for the warranty. I had 3.5 years left on the warranty.

Over a month to repair a LG refrigerator, and still not done. They are contracted with Vendors who don't show up on multiple occasions, order parts from suppliers who don't have the ability to send parts other than stranded shipping. Folks if you are looking at this before you buy the insurance, please don't , if already bought look to cancel and get a "Prorated Refund" . Asurion is horrible!!!!

My LG refrigerator has not been working for over a month now. I’ve been having to deal with this entire situation for over a month. I’ve had 4 different technicians come and say that the problem was the compressor. The compressor was replaced exactly one week ago, and it stopped working the day after! I will very much make sure my family and friends NEVER return to Home Depot to make a purchase. The fact that I feel that everything that could possibly get done is not getting done is truly the most frustrating. I very much feel put to the side. My case manager does not return my phone calls nor does he bother to notfity me when there’s a change on my status claim. I’ve spoken to numerous case managers as well as supervisors, none that have a solution to my problem. This is the most frustrating situation I have ever been through. I felt compelled to write after having my own experience with Asurion. 6 weeks ago, my dryer stopped working. Asurion required a GE tech service it. This tech came out and shared that he could not and would not repair the machine, because it would require splicing the wires, and he would not complete a repair that would exponentially increase the odds of a fire. He called this in to Asurion's Tech Line, and the technician on call said if he would not fix it, they would find someone who would. Asurion's Tech got angry with the in home tech for "taking the customer's side." I was appalled, and contacted Asurion's customer service department. After an hour of back and forth, they forced me to take a second opinion before replacing my machine. Another technician came out and concurred. He too reported to the Tech Line, and offered to Skype them and show them the actual problem, to which the Asurion Tech refused to actually look at it. The technician at my home said that the only way he would feel comfortable repairing my machine safely would be to replace the entire wiring harness, but that GE does not make that part, because no one would ever replace it - they would simply order a new machine. The Asurion Tech concurred, but then when he heard my husband in the background, magically was able to order the replacement harness, with a long term back order date. I called Asurion Customer Service again, and experienced 3 escalations and was on the phone for well over an hour. They said the machine was not beyond repair, because their Tech ordered a part. I was able to get them to admit that both technicians (THAT THEY SENT) in my home deemed the machine unrepairable but they still did not relent. I threatened to take legal action, and no dice. Finally, they called the harness manufacturer and determined, as their in-home technician said, that this "part" was on "permanent back order" and agreed to replace my machine. In my life, I have never experienced such illogical, unscrupulous, insane decision making. It was only because of my persistence, and the backing of these two in home technicians, that I was able to persevere. A complete and utter outrage. I cannot reasonably believe that Home Depot does not know the scope of the issue with Asurion, and as such, I will not only never buy an appliance from them again, I will never shop there again. view less

86 days (and counting) without a washing machine. We could have bought a brand new washing machine with what we've spent at the laundromat. I've lost count of the number of hours and phone calls we've invested in trying to get this resolved. Our experience has been awful, awful, awful. Wish we had gone to Lowe's instead.

BEWARE OF 5 YEAR PROTECTION PLANS! I found out today that my 5 year protection plan runs concurrent with the one year warranty with LG for my washer. So in fact I paid for five years of protection and received only four years. The LG rep told me the plan should start after year one (their warranty). My repairman told me the same. Home Depot told me their plan starts from day one of the purchase and enhances the LG plan. The enhancement covers power surge. The Home Depot representative basically said "sorry"! Welp when it takes seriously almost two weeks and we still don’t have a washer you get pretty upset l, especially when you have already spent over 65 at the laundry mat and no idea still when it is to be fixed. Oh let’s also not forget our first appointment was just a phone call from a company over three hours away to say they didn’t have anyone in the area that day and they needed to yet still order parts. Then we don’t hear anything and no one cares other than scheduling more appointments that will probably end in just another phone call. Should also mention I live less thAn 20 minutes from Indianapolis the state capital that has more than an over obundance do appliance repair companies but we need someone who is three hours away. It is disgraceful!!! view less

I would give Home Depot protection rating a negative -100 if possible. I been waiting a month to get someone to come look at my ice maker. I called back twice and both companies they said was coming was in another state. And after call after call after call they still can't get it right. I purchased multiple appliances from Lowe's And NEVER had a issue with them. Always quick and great service. Now I know to never purchase from home depot again!!! view less

What a nightmare. Our Samsung refrigerator has always had issue with the ice maker. Water would drip out, then not make ice etc. We bought the 5 year protection plan since the Home Depot sales rep said this plan was not like others, “if they can’t fix the problem then they will replace your fridge.” The first horrible low rated appliance repair place comes to fix it, didn’t work. Then we have had another 1 star yelp rated repair shop come 4 more times. They keep replacing different parts on the ice maker which finally we called the protection plan and said we have had 5 unsuccessful repairs and the ice maker is still not working to start the process of getting a new fridge. Nope, you have to have the same part replaced 3 times before you get a replacement. So fine we will keep playing the game and today had the horrible repair shop come again and replace another part on the ice maker however he also dented the fridge today. Argued that it was already there. The repair shops are shady, they know the protection plan better then we do so they know they will keep getting paid by the plan if they change the part every time. There are a lot of parts to replace in a ice maker, this will never end. Even though this is truly not how Home Depot operates, it’s the second and third party people who Home Depot sold us to. There are so many complaints on the internet there should be a class action lawsuit to get Home Depot to stop using shady companies and selling us something that doesn’t exists. They are ruining their good reputation plus they can’t be making that much money on the plans to be worth this liability? view less

I have had 6 repair idiots come to my house to try and fix a Whirlpool fridge. Literally have had to fight with Asurion, once they hung up on me. They are the WORST, they are not related to Home Depot, but they (Home Depot) has serious problems if they keep them. Finally after about 45 days without a refrigerator they determined is was not able to be repaired. This whole debacle had made my blood pressure skyrocket. Asurion is THE WORST protection plan I've ever had the misfortune of working with. They are HORRIBLE! Instead of just sending someone out to service the appliance, they connect you with their Technical Services department to troubleshoot the issue. It's a JOKE. On hold for over a half an hour.

And when they do send out a service company, the issues are NOT fixed! They slap bandaids on the problem and say it's fixed, but it's not!

Buyer beware - NEVER EVER purchase an extended protection plan thru Home Depot. NEVER AGAIN will I buy ANY appliances thru Home Depot. They are the WORST! view less
