Review: Monday, August 28: Called and requested service for air conditioner and got a dispatch number for service. Bedrooms @ 89.9 degrees. Went to hotel for the night Have to book 2 rooms. Weather forecast heat advisory for the week with temperatures reaching 110 degrees. Tuesday, August 29: Called service provider who told me they were not going to make it out today, and that they could schedule me tomorrow. Called American Home Shield and waiting on hold for 1 hour 40 minutes. The verified heat advisory and said they would order expedited service. Within 15 minutes of hanging up, got a call from the service provider. GREAT! Scheduled for tomorrow so we book another 2 hotel room.s for the night High for the day 110 degrees. Bedrooms @ 96.4 degrees. Forecast for tomorrow, another 110 degree day. Wednesday, August 30: Got a call from the service provider. Due to emergency (personal I assume), they are down a technician and cannot come out today. Offered appointment at 6:00AM tomorrow. Asked them to book me in that slot, and I would call American Home Shield to see if someone else was available to come out today. An hour and 20 minutes on hold later, they said they needed to verify with service provider. I asked if I can get a service provider and told no, had to go through them. I requested a callback once they reached the service provider for verification. No return call, book another night in the hotel, and feel better about having a 6:00AM appointment in the morning. How can that get screwed up? Bedrooms @ 96.6 degrees. Forecast for tomorrow, 110 degrees (not surprised, are you?). Thursday, August 31: Wake up, check out, getting to the house before 6:00AM appointment. It\'s 5:40 and no call from technician who should be on his way. Call service provider, closed and no way to get a person on the phone about the appointment. It\'s now 5:50AM, and I\'m dialing American Home Shield because I know I have to sit on hold again. The automated attendant says hold times more than 30 minutes. An hour and 25 minutes on hold later, get them on the phone. They check and tell me that the service provider told them that I was booked for September 2. I elevated voice ever so slightly to indicate my frustration without being rude, and explained that I had an appointment with them for 6:00AM. Told they can send it to dispatch for another company. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and told them to send the request to dispatch. She said she\'d see if she can get a supervisor. Few minutes later, came back on the line and told me no supervisor was available. I did find out that there was an outside authorization that could be provided to me if they couldn\'t get service today, but she had to check with ALL their service providers. She said she\'d call me back after she worked her way through the list. Pretty much ended call there because it was going nowhere. After getting of the call, I called a service provider (first choice), who guaranteed me that they would be out today between 10:00 and 2:00PM. Love them! Thanks Howard Air and KTAR. While wrapping up that scheduling, American Home Shield calls back with another service provider who should call me within 2 hours, and scheduled between 1:00 and 5:00PM. They really need to use Howard Air. I clear that call and get back to Howard Air and update them. I tell them to come anyway because I have more faith that they\'ll show. Now the waiting begins. Bedrooms @ 98.4 degrees. The office opens for the service provider that I had the morning appointment with, and I\'m sure I\'m probably their first call. I get the same person who I confirmed the appointment with on the phone. So I stay nice and call and tell her what\'s going on. She tells me that AMERICAN HOME SHIELD CANCELLED my 6:00 appointment! To say that I am disappointed with American Home Shield is like saying the food at the restaurant where I found the roach on my plate, could have been better. I am ANGRY. They basically tell me that there is nothing they can do except reschedule. I don\'t know how they are rated #1 in the home warranty industry. unless they are paying for that rating. I don\'t see how it could be objectively possible. Maybe other states are better, but in Arizona where having air conditioning in the mid summer months is not a luxury, they FAIL in SPECTACULAR fashion. If this was a rental unit, the landlord would be required to pay for the hotel until the air conditioning was fixed. AHS offers nothing. Look elsewhere for a home warranty. I could never recommend them. No rating on repair service because it\'s still not fixed.

Review: My experience with American Home Shield was a good one. Everything was done in a timely manner. The only bad part was the initial delivery of the dishwasher. The person delivering it said that I needed to buy a new power cord and a 10' water line. The people from the same company that came out later to install the dishwasher had the 10' water line with them and said that the original power cord could have been used so they went ahead and installed the washer in a timely manner and did a good job.

Review: I live in Arizona where A/C is a NECESSITY.... I called on a Saturday morning about my A/C not working, and after hanging up with the automated system I got a text informing me of the dispatched company. I tried to call the company but was displeased to find out they were closed on the weekend. This meant I was for sure with out A/C for Saturday and Sunday. Monday morning comes around at 9 am sharp I get a call from the A/C company who explains they cant come out till the next day, only options were 7 to 11 or 11 to 3. I worked the next 2 days at 9 am till 3 so there for those time frames weren\'t very ideal, and they wouldn\'t book it unless I was available for all 4 hours. This company seemed to be a small business and wasn\'t able to make an emergency trip to my house, it being mid 90\'s outside still, means the inside of my house was roughly 92 on average during the day. I called AHS back to request a bigger company that could accommodate sooner, and they refused to do so because the original company was willing to do the work, and I was required to make my self available to their time frames. Very unhappy with this experience on the fact that they sent out a smaller(most likely cheaper) company that couldn\'t respond immediately, also given that my last claim for my fridge took the company they dispatched 3 times to fix it cause they couldn\'t order the right parts and then tried to blame me for it. Given were I live, and how important A/C is to us out here, I didn\'t feel valued at all and nor did they seem to care to accommodate on their end to get someone out ASAP. Its now Tuesday and I\'m still with out A/C, sweating in my office, as I type this review....

Review: We have a Kitchenaid built in combination electric oven and combination microwave/convection oven that is covered by our home warranty. The microwave unit failed and we called for Old Republic for service. A couple weeks later an appliance technician showed up but couldn\'t fix it. He said he needed to research the problem, so he came back two additional times but still could not solve the problem so threw up his hands. Next Old Republic sent out a second repair technician, and after three different attempts he also said he couldn\'t solve the problem. We contacted Old Republic and were told that we (ourselves) now needed to contact an authorized Kitchenaid repair service. It sounds like Old Republic has also thrown in the towel and left us hanging high and dry. After more than two months we are still without the use of our microwave. So far the Old Republic home warranty has proven to be a waste of money, as we are now faced with the challenge of getting the repairs done on our own.

Review: Have a week old baby and the AC went out for the 12th time in 3 years. Old republic will not allow for a new unit and will only send people to do patch jobs. I have I had two HVAC guys out that said we needed a new unit. old Republic sent another guy to say he could do a patch job but it would cost to much and damage the the area around the AC. They will not cover any damages they do. When Talking to Rep on phone he stated they never received paper work on it. got the run around. They then offered us a buyout that would not even cover getting a patch job. I would not recommend this company to anyone. When it comes down to paying any money to get it fixed they will not.

Review: I am pretty happy with the way AHS/service contractor worked in getting my pool pump up and running. I opened the service request through AHS website which was pretty simple and very quick - within 5 mins the service request was submitted and local service company was assigned. The local service company (Aaron Pools) was prompt enough to schedule my pool repair appointment and showed up on time. They quickly diagnosed the problem as got the pump replaced within 30 mins. Overall it was a pretty nice experience unlike some of the horror reviews that I have read. I give both AHS and Aaron pools a 5 star rating..

Review: I've had AHS for a number of years, and haven't needed their service but a couple of times. Their operators do not seem to have a grasp on "mechanical" problems when you do call, but you can work through those problems (a bit time consuming). I recently needed to have my garbage disposal repaired or replaced and was told that several years ago my policy changed and that the garbage disposal was not covered. Hmmm...I looked at my newest policy and they were right. It also no longer covered my garage door opener. It used to. So I replaced the disposal myself. I found a better rated home warranty company with MORE coverage for a LOWER annual cost than AHS and signed up. When I called AHS back to cancel my warranty they offered to send me $100.00 for my "inconvenience" and renew my policy with garbage disposal coverage. Well, the disposal is new now and my warranty coverage costs LESS, so you can imagine what I told them!

Review: Every time that I have had to use American Home Shield, I've been completely satisfied... Would like for the service charge to go back down a little, for that can be tough on a Senior Citizen on a fixed income. Other than that, I have been pleased with the service, the service guys that came over, and the time it took to do the work that was needed. I would like to pick my own AC man, if possible. I completely trust him and his company, but they are not on American Home Shield plan. Other than the two things I mentioned, the service charges and not being able to use my own AC man........ American Home Shield is absolutely great, and I'm completely satisfied with the services that I have called them for.....I wouldn't use any one else.......

Review: Our 20 year old HVAC unit was serviced by one of your contractors recently. They were courteous and notified me when they were on their way. I like that! They explained everything they replaced and very detailed about what to watch out for if we had any more problems. Just don't know why your company doesn't use contractors in the Athens area. This contractor was quite a ways away from us but provided great service.

Review: So we had a lapse in coverage.. When we got everything taken care of, and we were covered, our AC decided to go out, the day after it went into effect. When my wife called, we were greeted with a friendly voice of, because that was an existing condition, you\'re not covered. The last person to touch the AC was them... Still I can see it from their point to a degree. Ok, so we bite the bullet and get out an AC company to look at what is going on and get thing fixed so we can get back into warranty. Well, after all was said and done, we are waiting for parts to replace a valve that was "fixed" in correctly the last time it was serviced....so that would have been these guys. In addition to this, the last guy decided to not point out that the units were installed incorrectly. Meaning, we have the wrong condenser connected up to the wrong air handler. Do I trust this new guy.. Yes I do, as he was kind enough to drag me around and show me his findings. So now at this point, I don\'t trust the people they would send out for warranty, plus with a previous experience using them, I don\'t trust the onsite warranty superintendent. (for example) I was getting lectured that I had incorrectly directed the plumber to a water leak we had due to some incorrectly installed water supply lines. That it would have been better to have them go a different direction. THEN, tell me to go and find drywall guys at a local construction site to come and do the drywall repairs, so we can keep the cost down. Seriously? This is my home. This is where I am raising my kids, and you want me to go drive around a construction site to locate a drywall crew to hang the drywall to keep your cost down?! When all was said and done, we ended up paying money out of our own pocket to make sure things were done properly. I don\'t want to hear from anyone as I am dropping this group and finding a company that will actually do things right and help rather than hinder.

I never write reviews but I dont want anyone to go through this. We have been without airconditioning for a week because their service timeliness ABSOLUTELY SUCKS!!!!
