    Review: At 3 am on one of the coldest Saturday mornings of the year the blower on our furnace stopped. I filled in an online AHS request for service right then. Even though it was the weekend we got a call later that morning. Ted Baumer, owner of Baumer's Heating & A/C already had an overbooked day. Instead of telling AHS he was too busy, he understood our serious need for help and MADE time to come and fix our furnace. He was professional and knowledgeable and described what he was doing so we understood what was being done. He was concerned about keeping the dusty mess contained--it was a big job! AHS really knows their technicians!

    Review: My plan was purchased by the seller of my current home as part of the purchase contract. I hadn't thought much of what it entailed or what it covered and really just considered a little extra perk. My intention was that I would let the plan expire after the initial year, but after having recently needed the services of American Home Shield and realizing just how important those services can be I will absolutely renew my plan. My ten year old water heater recently gave out, completely flooding my garage. There was no damage to my home or to any belongings, however I did have a water heater with no hope of recovery. I had completely forgotten about my home warranty until my neighbor asked if I had one, I immediately called American Home Shield and through their quick and easy automated system (it was on a weekend) I was able to file a claim and was given contact information for the company that would be handling my repair/replacement. The service charge to have the plumbing company come out was minimal, especially considering the cost of a new water heater! The service rep as well as the technician were extremely helpful and they were onsite early the following Monday and my water heater was replaced before lunch time. The overall experience was terrific, and knowing that I am covered when one of life's little surprises happens gives me much needed peace of mind.

    Review: I have relied on AHS since buying my home almost 4 years ago. The previous owners paid for a year and right away I used AHS to fix my garage door. They have provided services for a broken gas heater and two plumbing issues also. The personnel are always responsive and get help to me as quickly as possible. All costs are covered except for my deductible as promised!

    Review: I've had great experiences using the contractors recommended by American Home Shield. The most recent event was with a plumber who was punctual, very knowledgeable, and fixed the problem to our satisfaction (no flooding in basement to date).

    Review: Terrible service. Reported A/C problem on 7/2/14 and advised that it would be 2 weeks before they will replace the unit as their supplier is out of air conditioners. It's sweltering heat and no one cares. Will have to go buy air conditioning unit elsewhere and sue them. Ridiculous!!!!!

    Review: AHS is the biggest waste of money....I wish that I had looked on this website to see peoples reviews and I would have recommended that my real estate agent save his money. I am going to try to get my real estate agent to cancel the policy and recoupe some of his money that he spent on the policy. They refused to replace or even fix my a/c unit because it wasn't damage due to wear and tear. They only have a one HVAC company that they contract with and the companies loyalty is to AHS not to their customer. I now have an issue with my furnace and I don't trust the same HVAC company to come out to look at it because I am not sure that they will fix it to the best of their ability, and we are discussing an issue that is a fire hazard. AHS is loyal to their contractors and visa versa not loyal to their customers what so ever. After reading these reviews I shared this page with my real estate agent who thought he was doing a good thing by providing his new homeowners with an expensive gift that unfortunately doesn't do any good for the homeowner. They don't save the homeowner any money....my recommendation is to save the money spent on the policy and put it into an account and when an issue arises use that money to pay a reputable repair company to correct your issue. Sad but True AHS is a waste of everyone's time and money.

    Review: I submitted 2 claims for coverage and both were rejected by Old Republic per their 10/29/2013 letter to me. The built-in microwave went dead after just 1 month in the house we bought with Old Republic Home Protection. Their letter stated; "The Warranty Industry in general has certain standard limitations to coverage. While we as a company strive to provide as much coverage as possible, coverage is not all-inclusive." Of course, this means to me, pay Old Republic for protection, but don't expect any reimbursement for claims. Their letter did direct me to the Better Business Bureau to complain. This reminds me of an old adage: A fool and his money are soon parted. Bottom line; don't buy their rip-off coverage.

    Review: I am always impressed and grateful for AHS and its network of qualified service providers. I had an issue with my heating system in the house and contacted AHS via email. I received a response immediately and within hours, received a call from the service provider. They came when agreed, actually the guy came earlier because he had an opening, and fixed the problem within an hour.

    Review: We were very happy with the timely response for both of our service requests. Our heater went out and the response of Essex Heating and Air Conditioning was prompt and they found the problem and got it fixed the same day. We also put in a request for our dishwasher, washer and oven the response and service we received from H & H Appliance & Repair was also very prompt. Turned out there was nothing wrong with the dishwasher and washer but the oven needed a new thermostat which had to be ordered and they were very prompt about coming back to fix the oven once the part came in.

    Review: Outstanding! Our dishwasher's motor was out, the contractor that you selected was without a doubt one of the best, the serviceman was very friendly and explained what had happened and how much time it would take to get it fixed. The motor was not in stock, but the wait time was only a couple of days. The motor installed, the dishwasher worked very well, then everything stopped again, we called the repairman, that same day they came out, corrected the problem and since then everything has been excellent.

    Review: Last summer my hot water heater stopped working. I called AHS and they sent a repairman to my home the very next day. When he checked the hot water heater, he found that it was ok. He said that it was probably the electric braker on the panel. The same day an electrician came to my home(it was Saturday), and replaced the damaged braker. I had hot water in less than 1 hour. I was very pleased.

    Review: AHS gets no stars. They would not assist with an emergency for 48 hours. Their online 15 minute wait turned into 60 minutes. Their customer website is often down so you can not even access that. They take 8-10 days to respond to an email. Then they send out inept contractors who can not fix the issue. DO NOT sign up with them.

    Review: We have had AHS for two years. Have renewed just recently. Every time we have contacted AHS they have been Johnny on the Spot. They have had a plumber contacting us immediately and the repairs done fixing our problems in a short time. We have had the same contractor which we have become familiar with and they have always taken care of things completely. We would recommend AHS to everyone. Thank you for being there for us.
