American Home Shield (AHS)
This last episode was a hot water heater replacement. It was scheduled conveniently, on time and done promptly, resulting in very little down time. Over the years, AHS has been an excellent investment in our home.

American Home Shield (AHS)
I have been with American Home shield for almost 3 years and I recently cancelled since I built a new home that came with a new home warranty for the first year. I have never had a complaint about the company and even convinced the new owners of my old home to purchase a AHS warranty. I fully intended to get the warranty again after the expiration of my current new build warranty until I got a statement saying I had to pay an almost $75 cancellation fee. Seriously?! After spending almost $3000 over 3 years in monthly cost plus service fees, I could not believe this slap in the face. At no point during the 2 phone calls it took to cancel the plan (because it wasn't cancelled the first time) did anyone let me know there would be a fee. I expected a refund since I paid for an extra month. Then it took 2 phone calls to get some one to explain to me why I had this fee. The first call took 45 minutes before I finally hung up. I got a representative who barely spoke English and I asked for a supervisor multiple times in the last 15 minutes of the call before finally hanging up and calling back. The second representative spoke English and was very kind but stated that department no longer accepts phone calls so he could not transfer me. I wonder why? Anyways i'm done. I can't believe that's how you treat loyal customers.

American Home Shield (AHS)
I am absolutely baffled by this abysmal company. I have had two service calls; one for plumbing and one for HVAC. I received a text message saying I will hear from the company in 24 hours. 48 hours later, I hadn\'t heard from either one. American Home Shield tells me the company has 48 hours to respond to me. The text message needs to be updated if that is the case. One more day passes without hearing from either company. American Home Shield says I need to reach out to the company, but they would do it for me as a courtesy. The plumbing company was scheduled and no problem from that point on. They find out the HVAC company is out of town for the next week so they reassign. The same thing happens... 72 hours pass with no phone call. I call the company and they inform me that they told AHS that they no longer service their calls. When all was said and done, we had went over TWO weeks without even having anything scheduled!!!! We finally get it scheduled and serviced from there. With parts being ordered slowly (it took three weeks to get the part) we were without air conditioning for over a month. We had a newborn baby in the house and I shared this with AHS. Now, I keep getting emails that my account is delinquent. I made my two service fee payments on my original call that I made. I have called three times to clear this up with AHS and they said it is being taken care of. This has been happening for over a month. AHS needs to reevaluate their processes. For such a large company, they sure are incompetent. I will be searching for a better company.

I was pleased with my service. My appointment was scheduled quickly and I received a heads-up when he was on his way. The technician was knowledgeable and efficient. He checked out my a/c and was finished in a minimum amount of time.

You can't afford not to have American home sheild. Customer service is fast and efficient and the contractors come out timely (within a couple days). The only issue I've ever had was an appliance that needed to be replaced, multiple contractors had to come out and it was a long drawn out process. For repairs they're terrific

as a single woman with no available 'handy guys' around the house, American Home Shield has been a life-saver for me! they are fast, courteous and they keep checking to make sure the repairs have been done. the contractors have never given me a hassle about having a claim through AHS. they have contacted me in a timely fashion, are respectful of my time available and of my home. they do the repairs in a professional and efficient manner. Thank you!

My last experience was due to our build-in microwave malfunctioning. I reported it online. The contractor responding in a timely manner. Came out within 48 hours, identified the problem, but had to order the part. He was friendly and knowledgeable. It took about 8 days for the part to arrive. I did have to call them to find out what the delay was and found out when the contractor came out that the part had arrived in a damaged box and he made them send another one because he did not want to risk installing something that may have been damaged. This was the reason for the delay. Overall I was very satisfied with the service

With a very pleasant surprise our assigned contractor was on the phone to us in almost immediate response to our call for service. Very courteously, they answered our appliance problems and promptly sent a technician that was well qualified to meet our needs. Our repair was serviced speedily with great care, politeness, and expertise. We purchased a second home last year. When the complementary Appliance Insurance from the seller expires we will be adding this home to American Home Shield as well.

American Home Shield (AHS)
The company offers emergency help only "as a courtesy" (their words) so don't count on them if it's 90 out and your A/C is broken. Their guidelines for an emergency include a heat index of 104 degrees so don't buy it if you have children or elderly people in your home. They also require the service people to buy their parts through AHS so there's a 5 to 7 day wait for parts. The people who answer the phone are rude and speak repeatedly about the "service guidelines" but don't offer any actual compassion for another human being in a tight spot. While I was initially pleased with them for small problems like a broken doorbell - if you have a serious problem like no A/C don't count on them. And if you get mad they suggest your cancel. They don't care if they have your business or not.
